Reference apps: Making life simpler

SAP offers a wide range of new technologies and platforms for the markets like SAP HANA, HANA Cloud, Mobile, analytics. With such a diverse range of technologies our developers & customers run into challenges such as:

  • Are there any samples available for this application?
  • What are the different channels of education?
  • How to get ramped up technically on the usage of new products and solutions?
  • How to come up with basic end to end scenarios?

Reference or Sample applications are applications that are built to support internal and external developers, customers and partners for education and demo purposes. These applications demonstrate end to end integration of SAP Technologies and are delivered externally via different channels like SCN, SMP along with source codes, tutorials, cook books, “How to” guides etc. The focus of these applications is also to validate the underlying technologies, educate customers and provide a complete product experience.

The main objective of these apps is to enable and guide developers and customers to build their first end to end applications easily and efficiently, with the help of guides and tutorials in turn making their developer experience simpler and faster. Secondly this also helps the product development teams to get early feedback on their feature adoption….

The apps are used for education, trainings, demo’s and also for qualification and validation purposes.

Few examples of such apps:

SAP HANA native application: SHINE

SAP HANA Cloud Platform based sample applications : ESPM sample scenarios

HANA XS app running on cloud trial space  : SHINE on HCP

Sample scenarios for BW on HANA: ABAP for SAP HANA Reference Scenario

Any feedback is more than welcome. We hope they would simplify life of internal developers as well !!
