SAP Screen Personas – Getting Started
SAP Screen Personas allows you to improve user productivity by personalizing your SAP Dynpro transactions and Web Dynpro applications in ECC, Business Suite on HANA, and SAP S/4HANA. You can simplify screens by removing fields you don’t use, converting free text entry to pull-down menus, and automating recurring keystrokes.
By providing the right information to the right users in the right context, they can get more done in less time with greater accuracy. With more intuitive SAP screens, organizations can enhance user satisfaction, minimize training time, and spend less money on screen modifications. SAP Screen Personas is one of several ways to improve SAP usability and the overall user experience.

Thanks for that really huge and valuable collection on SAP Screen Personas, really helpful to onboard colleagues to Personas!
Hi Peter,
Thanks for share documentation.
Very useful !!
Thanks... very useful!
Amazing repository, thanks for the effort!
Valuable contribution....thanks!
So if I am security, and each area has personas screens..... and someone ask me to setup a new person with the following buttons.....how do I figure out which transactions they are talking about, if everyone can have a customized screen?
This feels like web presenting pages, which makes Security's job harder, since the traditional security tools and tracing.... don't work with web presenting pages, probably are not going to work with these new features either......
In the backend system, the standard ABAP transactions are still being executed, and standard security still applies. Personas is just giving them a new skin.
You can, if allowed, switch from the personas view to the standard view, making it easy see which transaction is behind the personas screen.
Does that help?
Hi Helen,
Let me build on Steve's comment.
First, the paradigm of SAP Screen Personas is that each "flavor" is based on an underlying SAP transaction screen. So, the SAP Screen Personas flavors inherit the security settings from the back end for each transaction. If I cannot view transaction SU01 in my SAP GUI, I will not be able to view this transaction through SAP Screen Personas either, even if someone adds a launch button to go there. I will just see a "not authorized" message, just as if I had typed /nSU01 into the OK code field.
In addition, you can control which users see which flavors. This provides a more granular way to roll out SAP functionality, especially if you tailor the information on each screen to the specific needs of that role.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Peter
Hello,
I'm implementing SAP Screen Personas 2.0, personally i think it's a good tool. I think that SAP have to add others components(like a grid) and more properties for actual components.
Currently I have a bit problem , i need redirec back button(F3) or disable back button back(F3). this is possible?
Thank you for bringing the documentation at one place.
Regards,
Ramesh
good information
Hi,
What are the Roles a user must have to access create, add , edit flavors in Personas.
I have and R/3 where personas is installed. but I am not aware of the roles my user must have to perform screen personalization.
Regards,
Archana
The roles are described in the configuration guide. As a Personas developer you'll most likely need the "ADMIN_ROLE" role. Note that Personas roles are set in the Personas admin transaction (/PERSOS/ADMIN_UI), and are not standard SAP roles set in PFCG.
Steve.
Hello,
do you read the guide about configuration? I recommed that you download the guide, this guide indicate what roles need create, where create, what notes apply and more.
Docs used:
Config_Document_v_1_3
configguideaddendum-140602170309-phpapp01
Master_Guide_v_1_3
Amazing piece of information.
Thanks for the explanation and the video.
Great work !!!

Hi ,
I have integrated SAP personas in CRM WEBIC via URL based transaction launcher.
However when the SAP personas transaction is opened on WEBIC, and when i type /O in command button, it opens a new pop-up window.
Is there any way to restrict it.
Regards,
Rohit

Hello,
If you need restrict type /o or any TX, try to create a flavor with command field invisible.

Manuel
Hello,
We are just installing the right Version of SAP Netweaver 7.42 (SP08) and wish to install SAP Screen Personas 3.0.
My question: Will Sap Screen Personas work in the ight way, if we use an ERP System ECC 6.0 EHP5 as Application for SAP Screen Personas 3.0 to communicate with?
I found the SAP note 1914952, which refers to an other SAP note with title "EHP7 for ECC 6.0 SP Stacks" but it is not clear for me whether EHP7 is needed for communication with SAP Screen Personas 3.0 or not.
Thanks in advance and best regards
Adrian Scheffer
Hi Adrian,
SAP Screen Personas 3.0 requires a 740 basis, it is independent of the used applications. However, please have a look at http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1496212 (EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 SP stacks - Release & Information Note), it lists all supported Netweaver Basis versions. NW 7.40 is not in the list, so it is not supported. So, neither Ehp5 nor Ehp6 are supported on basis 740, the lowest EhP that is supported on 740 is EhP7.
As result, at the moment, you can only personalize ERP screens in EHP7.
Cheers,
Tobias.
Hello Tobias,
Thank you very much
this helps.
Cheers
Adrian
Any idea what is the tentative date to make SAP Personas available to the SAP Customers? When will the ramp up stage end?
Thank you.
Hi Gautam,
The latest information on ramp-up status is here:
http://scn.sap.com/community/gui/blog/2015/02/11/sap-screen-personas-2015-outlook-roadmap
Regards,
Peter
Thanks Peter. I checked this link. I didnt come across any dates for Personas 3.0. It is mentioned that "The release date is planned for after our ramp-up customers go live, to demonstrate that the product is sufficiently robust for general availability."
My mistake that I didnt mention I was keen to know more about SAP Personas 3.0 release date to the general SAP Customers. Can you please let me know a tentative time line? when is the release of Personas 3.0 planned?
Thanks.
If we go with SAP Personas 2.0 now, is there an upgrade strategy needed for us to move from Personas 2.0 to 3.0. Any details on the upgrade in that case?
Thank you.
The upgrade from version 2 to version 3 is very simple. The migration is built into version 3. You just select the flavors you want to migrate from the Admin UI, click, and it's done. Usually, this is all that is required if the flavors you build use the standard functionality and nothing to bypass what is built into the product.
Regards,
Peter
Hi Gautam,
There is no date as we cannot predict when our ramp-up customers will go live on SAP Screen Personas 3.0. My best estimate is that it would be by the mid-point of the year.
Regards,
Peter
Thank you Peter. That helps.
superb document. Thanks Peter.
If anybody wants any information about integrating SAP personas with SAP CRM WEBIC, i can hellp
That sounds like a good subject for a blog. Why wait until somebody ask - write it now!
Steve.
Peter,
It seems that SAP Personas would become obsolete under S/4HANA?
Is that your long term view as well?
Thanks.
Hi Paul,
SAP Screen Personas is part of the roadmap for on-premise S/4HANA. I'll discuss more details in a future post on SCN.
Regards,
Peter
Hi Peter,
Looking forward to more on the coverage on Screen Personas and HANA and how they are linked. Will we have to have HANA to go with the personas later with S/4 HANA?
We dont intend to go the HANA path atleast for another 2 yrs. That said, knowing the dependencies will help as we want to use Fiori and Personas as much as we can until decision on HANA is made.
Thanks.
Thanks Man
Thank you so much for posting all the useful links at one place..very useful.
While going thru self paced course on openSAP SAP Screen Personas.
WEEK 2, UNIT 1: It talks about a transaction /n/personas/admin, however when I try to use this in my system, it says, transaction does not exist. Where should I look for resolution?
Thanks,
Do you have the Personas 3.0 add-on installed?
Hello Tamas,
We have installed SAP Screen Personas 30 in our Company but one of our customers has installed SAP Screen Personas 20 SP03,
I don't know , to which topic or question you ask for.
Best regards
Adrian Scheffer
I responded to Kapil Changrani's question (a little late as I realize).
Hi,
we've upgraded from Personas 2 to 3 - works great on the main system but we can't get the Target systems to work with Personas 3. Where can I find infom regarding the settings needed on the target system for personas 3?
Thanks,
Guy
I'm sure others will have the same question - can you ask this as a separate "discussion" in this space, to make it easier for others to find the answer?
Thanks,
Steve.
Hi.
Where can I find instructions to setup a practice environment ?
Thanks in advance.
The installation and configuration guides are here: SAP Screen Personas 3.0 – SAP Help Portal Page. Also see the links above for getting started.
Steve.
Hi Steve. Thanks for your response.
Actually,I'm not BASIS and haven't access to my own system so I'm afraid I can't follow that procedure. So, I'm looking for a cloud based environment. Something similar to Cloud based Hana Trial or a ready to use CAL or somenthing like that.
Is that possible?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Regards,
Dairo
There's no pre-built cloud Personas trial system, no. I don't know of plans to produce one, I'm afraid.
Steve.
Hi Steve.
I see your point. In addition, Trial solution for openSAP Course: SAP Screen Personas has been archived.
Archived Featured Content for SAP CAL
Is there any other official option to have practice sessions for after finishing the OPENSAP courses SAP Screen Personas or any other ?
Regards,
Dairo
None that I'm aware of. You need an actual SAP system that you can install it into.
Steve.
Supposedly, Personas is installed in the S/4 HANA on-premise edition trial: http://scn.sap.com/community/s4hana/blog/2015/07/28/sap-s4hana-on-premise-edition-trial-available-now
Perhaps you can give that a shot and see if it works for you.
Other than that, there was already talk to eventually set up a SAP CAL / AWS-based IDES environment (similar to the openSAP course) with Personas 3.0 and 2.0 both installed and configured, but at the current time there is no decision made whether this will be offered or not.
I wonder how much demand would be there for such a solution...
Oh now that's interesting. I've had a few people ask this same question - can we verify that Personas is indeed installed in that system? It would be nice to have an answer that isn't "No" 🙂
Steve.
I understand, Thanks Steve.
is there a guide available to assist with setting up SSO(Single Sign On) for Personas?
Ideally it would use SNC to authenticate against active directory in a similar fashion as our sap gui does or piggy back off the already authenticated session by clicking on a url in the sapgui menu.
Hi Peter,
the Getting Started Demo video for Personas 3.0 is marked as private. Is there a way for me to get access?
Thanks in advance.
Micky.
Hi Micky,
I apologize for this. You can find many demo videos here:

Hi Peter,
no need to apoligize. Thanks for the link.
Micky
Hi Peter,
I assigned only consumer role '/PERSONAS/CONSUMER_ROLE' to some user 'ABC' but when i login with same user 'ABC" i am getting access to create flavour/themes. It was supposed to only Display/Apply flavours .
And also if i remove SAP_ALL profile from user master record, not able to see Personas icon in top of browser.
Please suggest me.
Regards,
Vinay.
If your user has SAP_ALL authorization, then it will have access to all Personas features, including creating flavors and themes.
If you assigned /PERSONAS/CONSUMER_ROLE to the user but the same user has no Personas access at all after removing SAP_ALL, this means that the role /PERSONAS/CONSUMER_ROLE is missing a generated authorization profile. This step was missed when the Personas add-on was installed. It can be taken care of in transaction PFCG.
I dont find the Menu More Option -> Advanced -> Advances Properties Editor.
We run SP 3.0.
Do you know why?
This menu item is located here:
http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/Img/How+to+change+the+tab-key+sequence+after+re-ordering+fields
Above link gives step by step process.
Just getting into the Persona's space...nice to have a landing page that helps to connect all the dots!
I want flavor should apply in SAP GUI for HTML only not in SAP GUI for Windows, how can we control it?
I created flavor for tcode and defaulted it, so when i run that tcode in SAP GUI personas flavor applying default.
Please suggest me.
Follow the instructions in this Wiki article - Deactivating SAP Screen Personas - SCN Wiki.
Steve.
Hello Peter,
Currently, we are on Personas 3 SP3. Kernel 722 Patch 101. We are on ECC 6 EHP 5.
We are planning to go to Suite on Hana in Q1 and then sometimes by end of next year, we plan to go on S/4 Hana. Now, we have option to either go on EHP7 or EHP8.
How would Personas 3 work on EHP7 Vs EHP8? Is there a document to explain this? I would appreciate if you could provide some insight into this.
Thanks,
Salil
Hello Peter,

Hello ,
We are using SAP PPM on enterprise portal environment and it is a webdynpro application. Is Screen personas applicable to us also?
We have already started to work in this direction could you please provide your inputs?
Thanks
Saurabh
Did you have any answer about?
I like so much the Screen Personas capabilities it's very helpful tool. Could you tell me if PPM (Project Portfolio Management) is in the scope of SCEEN PERSONAS, I would like so much these capabilities in PPM.
Thank you
Ubaldo
PPM is based on Web Dynpro rendering.
https://help.sap.com/saphelp_ppm60/helpdata/en/63/d8103ef03c48e09f3046e0404f54d6/frameset.htm
As such, SAP Screen Personas has limited capabilities to modify the screens. The SAP Screen Personas functionality is optimized for Dynpro screens.
Sorry that this is not the answer you were looking for.

Peter
