I am going to be optimistic, believe that spring has sprung and go to Toronto for the 3rd Annual Global Human Asset Expansion in Mining conference this Thursday and Friday, April 24th and 25th – Global Human Asset Expansion In Mining 2014 | Fleminggulf. Actually, more than that, I am going to be on a panel session and present on SAP’s benchmakring data in Mining (and do it all in a tight 30 minute time slot!)
What’s an operations, software, technology guy like me doing, speaking at an HR conference? Well, in addition to Mining being an important industry for SAP in general and HR solutions in particular, including SuccessFactors, there is a renewed sense of importance of the workforce in Mining companies. If you look at almost any Mining company’s strategic objectives, you’ll see the expected ones like Globalization, Operating Efficiency and M&A Strategy but a fourth one has been added – Talent Management. Perhaps HR is being elevated to the strategic level in Mining.
The conference boasts an international cast of Mining companies, Consulting and even Government and Industry speakers and attendees. Look for the proceedings or presentations to be available in the future (at least, I expect so). And, here’s to meeting a lot of new people in the Mining comnunity from around the world.
