SAP’s data centers in St. Leon-Rot have been awarded with the first place of the „Deutsche Rechenzentrumspreis 2014“ (German Data Center award) in category 10 for “Integrated Energy Efficiency”. With the concept “Nachhaltig mehr erreichen” (achieve more with sustainability) , SAP’S Global Facility Management (GFM) Data Center Team were honored with the data center award on March 26, 2014 during a gala dinner sponsored by Samsung, HP and Schneider Electric in Frankfurt.
The jury of experts confirmed that SAP’s data centers have proven themselves with energy efficient applications, their IT components as well as sustainable architecture and technical infrastructure. On top of that, the team in St. Leon-Rot works closely with the IT department in order to continuously improve the setup. The second place in category 10 went to SMA Solar Technology AG and KAMP Netzwerkdienste GmbH took home the third place.
As part of the “future thinking” exhibit, which was created in 2011, the award ceremony took place as part of the biggest expo on the German market to recognize data centers that drive energy efficiency in this industry. A total of 54 applicants registered for the award this year.
Gerd Schauss from Samsung, who presented the award to Michael Wuerth (Head of Datacenter Services GFM ), mentioned in his speech that this award was the “royal league” among the 10 categories.
