Chrome 34 tested with NetWeaver

The new key features of Google Chrome version 34 are:

SAP NetWeaver Test Center has been testing Chrome 34 on desktop in combination with NetWeaver versions 7.02, 7.30, 7.31 and 7.40.

  • Some DOM 2 attributes have been removed with version 34 (e.g. document.createAttributeNS), which may cause issues in scenarios which are based on SAP UI5. See also: We would recommend you to test your own scenarios before updating Chrome on a larger number of clients.

  • Google informed us about a solution for the removed attributes with Chrome 35. To close the gap with Chrome 34, SAP UI5 plans also a fix with version 1.20.6.

  • Are there any plans to certify Chrome on OS X? I’m guessing that because it uses the same rendering engine on all desktop OSes, there shouldn’t be any issues but it would be great to see it in the PAM.

    • Hi Michael-John,

Thanks a lot for your feedback! We do punctual tests with Chrome on Mac OS and it looks really promising so far. And we re-discuss our support decision from time to time.

So far we came to the conclusion not to commit support for this combination, because there are not so many customer requests (so far) and on the other hand we just see a higher risk to get our issues addressed, because for certain issues we have to talk to two different vendors (for the OS and for the browser).

      But your voice counts! 🙂

      Kind Regards, Andreas
