BI4.1 SP3 Webcast Notes with Question and Answer
This was a webcast from today held by SAP. Subset of SAP BusinessObjects BI4.1 SP3 What’s New are in these notes. What I found interesting too was the question and answer below. SP3 is GA now.

With SAP Crystal Reports user can create their own prompt order, not what was defined in BEx query

Open doc functionality is available to to link to an object
The logic is similar to OpenDoc but different URL

The SAP speaker described Figure 4 as a “nice change”.
Before LCM overrides were stored in a separate Derby database
LCM engines weren’t available for clustering and failover
This allows creating failover for LCM, said the SAP speaker.

Q: Support for Oracle 12c for BI4.1?
A: Supported in SP2
Q: What is the roadmap as far as QaaWS support on unx format universes
A: Plans are in the works
Q: How about SQL Server 2014?
A: SQL Server 2014 not released yet
Q: What is the support for Greenplum 4.2 Database in BI 4.1?

Q: Can we upgrade from bi4.0 directly to bi 4.1 sp3
Q: Is it a best practice recommendation to build UNX on top of HANA views OR connect directly to HANA views through Explorer / SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio ?
A: Depends on the use case; recommend direct connectivity where possible
Q: From a performance stand point is there a latency while using UNX on top of HANA views?
A: Will be a short latency dependency on the connector
Q: Source system is SAP -BW , We are have created BICS connection (On top of the BEx query)… in the WEBI Query designer We are not able to keep the prompts on KF’s (Query filters)
A: Recommend opening a support message
Q: Any updates for mobile SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards to support other themes beside NOVA
A: Not at this time
Q: Java applet performance, How much of a difference is it from previous versions ??
A: Cannot say; no benchmarks
Q: Webi report performance against UNX based universes
A: Depends on configuration of the DSL bridge; there is a document on SCN
Q: Is it possible to integrate Design studio and HANA XS
A: This is possible for Design Studio 1.3
