Approval process:-Usage of webdynpro and workflow

Webdynpro and workflow together offer a powerful tool to
automate and optimize some of the processes in any enterprise. I realized this
in one of my assignments and thought of sharing this.

The intention is that you can take this up as an idea to
your client in the form of a concept and deploy it if they like it. This would
require inputs from both the technical and functional fronts.

Let me try to give an real-time example in order to demonstrate
this.

We have purchase requisitions(PR) which based on approvals
get converted into purchase orders. Some of the parameters that are or can be
involved are release strategy, approval matrix.

Based on the value of purchase requisitions the approval matrix
is defined.

In this case we can build a webdynpro based workflow
application which can be triggered as email to approver . In the email
webdynpro link will be provided which will launch the application and then
approval can happen.

This will have some advantages:-

1]Supervisor/approver does not have to login to SAP system

2] More user friendly access to SAP information

3] Increase the productivity by saving time for approval
process

Steps to proceed:-

1]Identify the approval matrix

2]Create a webdynpro application for PR approval which can
approve the PR.(The fields visible in the application can be decided based on
mandatory fields )

3]Add the webdynpro application URL to task description of
the PR workflow.(Ensure that mail triggering step is configured.)

Now once release strategy is triggered, workflow will be
triggered which will dispatch email.

Once email reaches in inbox of approver the approval process
can proceed.

I have not added technical/workflow details since it is
already available in SDN.
