openSAP: 10 months – 100,000 unique users

The openSAP story started in May 2013 with the vision to deliver innovative key SAP topics through a number of free courses in Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) format for the SAP Ecosystem and beyond. SAP was the first company to adopt the MOOC format to deliver learning through openSAP to a broad audience including employees, customers, partners, students and others interested in learning about SAP and its innovative technologies.

The first course, Introduction to Software Development on SAP HANA, closed in July 2013 with over 40,000 enrolments and 9,383 participants earning a Record of Achievement. Following the success of this and its follow-on course, Introduction to Mobile Solution Development for the Enterprise, openSAP has broadened its portfolio list to include business as well as development topics. Other topics delivered in 2013 included, Introduction to SAP HANA Cloud
and BI 4.0 Platform Innovation and Implementation

By the end of 2013, over 85,000 unique users registered on openSAP with 185,000 enrolments in individual courses. In February 2014, openSAP was recognized by the Learning & Performance Institute with the “Innovation in Learning” Bronze Award for its outstanding high standards, best practice, innovation and excellence.

The first openSAP course of 2014 was released on March 17, An Introduction to SAP HANA by Dr. Vishal Sikka and is already receiving outstanding feedback. Today, we are delighted to announce that we have reached 100,000 unique users on openSAP with many additional courses planned for release in the coming weeks.

SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA allows you to explore the SAP Business Suite and take a deep dive into the Lines of Businesses and Industries that you are interested in learning about. You’ll also learn about the business value of running SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA and get an overview of the implementation for either an existing or new SAP customer. The course begins on April 9 and is currently open for enrolment.

Sustainability and Business Innovation is presented by SAP’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Dr. Peter Graf and provides insight into how SAP has developed and implemented its sustainability strategy during the past five years. This course aims to deliver SAP’s best practices and provide guidance for others to build a business case and implement a sustainability strategy which can help their business to become sustainable and innovative.

In 2014 openSAP is looking forward to building on the achievements of 2013 by broadening and deepening the openSAP portfolio and enhancing the overall user experience.
