Object based navigation's(OBN's) is one of the commonly used scenarios in most of the applications shipped under Employee Self-Service an Manager Self-Service roles.

For e.g. : Applications which use OBN's or delivered as OBN's are Appraisal documents, Shop,  Working Time Approval, Position Profile, Talent Profile, Organization Profile and so on are available in standard Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service roles shipped in different releases.

The blog talks about the scenario where OBN's fail to work when the Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service roles are launched using the new suite page builder landing page directly from browsers and when none of the below deployment options are not used:

  • NWBC in HTML

  • NWBC in Desktop

  • SAP Enterprise Portal.

ℹ Information:

  • The scenario fails only when the above roles are launched directly in browsers.
  • OBN's fail to work as the source application cannot recognize/resolve the OBN's associated for the same when launched directly from browsers.

Hence when the Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service roles are launched directly from browsers we need to make sure that the "Alternate Application for Browser-only Environment" is maintained for the applications created as OBN's or which has OBN's associated in Launchpad customizing.

:!: Note: Make sure that the application entry which has the OBN's associated does exist in the Launchpad customizing.
