I always laugh and laigh when trying to download this from the SAP Service Marketplace. You have to navigate from window to wndow, none of the links are intuitive, and you end up with four different web pages open.

Someone coming into the SAP service marketplace for the first time would think to themselves "this company clearly does not understand the importance of cloud based systems"

In the same way, the other day I tried to access the SCN on my smart phone and it came out really small, unlike a lot of web sites which adapt themselves to the dveice at hand. So the same person seeing this for the first time would say "this company clearly does not understand the importance of mobility"

Just to round this off, whilst navigating the SCN you often get the big dlalys whilst the "loading" barber shop pole spins round and round, sometimes quite a long delay. So that same new person might say "this company clearly does not understand the importance of fast database access"

Now, I'm being really cruel here, but web sites are a customer's (or more importantly a potential customer's) view of a company, and do SAP really want even the smallest chance of a first time viewer coming away thinking "this company does not understand the cloud, or mobility, or databases"?

A lot of truth in your words Everything is so vast and complicated in SAP, that even after 8 years of working I feel like a newbie. Sometimes I think you cannot simplify the unsimplifiable. For exmple - I write blogs, and create discussions, but I don't know where to see the newest blogs, or discussions on a certain topic, so that I can answer people.

Me and a couple of friends already downloaded the ABAP AS Trial to get the latest SAPGui. We've managed to learn how to get the AS Trial, and we don't want to feel ANOTHER pain to figure out how to download a basic developer tool from SAP...

When will be released the latest patch of SAP GUI 7.40 for Windows ? Unfortunately there are lots of bugs in this release

      Author's profile photo Paul Hardy
      Paul Hardy

According to the OSS note the first patch is due the middle of December and I cannot wait.

If I had written something with so many bugs and it had gone into production, I would be sacked, and then the person replacing me would be instructed to get a fix into production as fast as possible, the same day hopefully.

There was clearly no testing done at SAP before this was released, common in software firms these days - probably what they were expecting to happen - which did happen the very day of the release - is that the obvious bugs were reported by dozens of foolish users like me who download new things to see what they are like, knowing full well they will not work.

I have no doubt that by the end of the first week the developers inside SAP had fixed at least the most glaringly obvious bugs. So, if the first patch had come out the week after the 740 GUI then there would not have been such a torrent of abuse on the blog announcing the new 740 GUI. The banter started off light hearted but as it became clear the myriad of problems were not going to be fixed the tone turned downright nasty, so much so that the thread had to be locked, as the abuse was getting personal.

The problem is being inflexible with a plan. The schedule was to release the patch in December, so that plan is fixed in stone. It does not matter there are urgent fixes needed - December is the plan, so December it will be.

This is somewhat like having a battle plan to bomb the hill where you think the enemy are, and on the day of the battle your scouts tell you the enemy have moved, they are no longer on the hill, but you say "bomb that hill anyway because that is the plan".

I'm trialling SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 patch 5 compilation 2 and experiencing 'Invalid GUI input data' messages in some transactions, not previously encountered in 7.30. One such message appears when using ERP/SPRO where we get this message: 'Invalid GUI input data: ST_USER_MAX_WSIZE'. Any advice?

with SAPGUI-7.40 PL-03 hotfix-1 we recognized a delay of about 10sec. when try to logon to a SAP-System

SAPGUI 740 PL-5-2 has unfortunately one more issue using GUI in Fullscreen-mode

error:  "invalid GUI Input data: ST_USER_MAX_WSIZE wrong data"

you may not use SAPGUI in Fullscreen-mode, then sometimes the error did not come

      Hi.

I have a problem in SAPGUI 740 patch 5 (latest patch)... It happens from patch 4

On any table (transaction SE11) the names not display complete.

I guess we are all waitinf for hotfix 5.1 where all these issues will be fixed. I have not seen the "wrong data" problem, but I see the "..." problem. I cannot fix it from the options menu (Visualisation 2).

I guess I will hold on with the installation of 7.40. So far my users use 7.30 and 7.10 with no issues...

I'm running 7.40 patch 4, trying to apply patch 6 and getting this message:

In the past it seemed only the latest patch was necessary to install, all updates seemed to be cumulative to latest patch. Has this changed, and I need to install both 5 and 6 to become current?  Thank you.

      Hello,

Install the Sap Setup Patch 70 first and then update SAP GUI 740 Patch 6.

      Author's profile photo Sue Morton
      Sue Morton

I'm curious to know, what has changed that the base must be installed again before applying latest patch?

Originally I installed 7.40 base, then later applied patch 2 when it came out (just happened to skip 1), then patch 4 when it came out (happened to skip 3).

Why not skip 5 and apply 6 now?

Sure, I can try installing base again then try to apply patch 6.  But, even if that works, this does not look good for user deployment.  Is this the required procedure now, to reinstall base and then apply latest patch?

      Hello,

You do not need to reinstall your complete GUI.

Apply patch 70 for "SAP Setup" first and then apply patch 6 for SAP GUI for Windows 7.40.

Patch 70 for SAP Setup is a pre-requisite for patch 6 for SAP GUI 740.

I had the same problem applying hotfix 1 and 2 of patch 5. Perhaps they require an installation compilation 2. My solution was to use the Installation server - patch it with the patch, and then create a single file installer, which acts both for installation and update of the SAP GUI.

Sudhakar Kanchi Where we can download this patch 70 for "SAP Setup"? It sounds simpler than my solution.

      Hello,

Here is one of the option to download the patch file:

      https://support.sap.com/patches

      -> Browse Download Catalog

      -> SAP Frontend Components

      -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS

-> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.40 CORE

under "Info Page" area you can see the "link" for each component.

select the "link" for Name of the component "SAPSetup 9.0".

Download the file with the Title "SAPSETUP90P2SP00P".

      File Name - "SAPSETUP90P2SP00P_70-20008539.EXE".

Also you can search the file directly or can use the below url as well.

      https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=LIST&EVENT=LIST&ENR=01200314690200016672&SWTYPSC=SPP&PECCLSC=OS&INCL_PECCLSC1=OS&PECGRSC1=NT_I386&V=MAINT&TA=ACTUAL

      Author's profile photo Sue Morton
      Sue Morton

Applied the above file "SAPSETUP90P2SP00P_70-20008539.EXE" successfully.

Still cannot apply patch 6, same error message as before, "This SAP Front End patch requires a higher base version of the installed products. Update to a higher version of the product before applying this patch."

      Ideas?

Perhaps you can try to download the last Installation media (comp.2), patch it with it, and then install patch 6.

      Hello Florian,

are you running Personas 3.0? I think this particular Gui version has a problem with Personas' usage logging.  Disable usage logging ( transaction /personas/admin -> Goto Menu - > Analytics -> Measurement Analysis: in the shown screen there should be a toolbar button "Disable Usage Logging".)  and see if the problem disappears.

Of course, there could be another Personas script (onLoad/onAfterRefresh) that causes this problem, but then it would not occur for all transaction and espectially not if not flavor is applied.

Careful with patch level 9 if you're using the MRS planning board!

We're on MRS 800 and after installing the newest PL resources and assignments are not visible anymore. It is not an authoritzational problem or anything of the kind - it has to be caused by the SAP GUI: Yesterday I was using PL8 on the same computer and it worked. To make double-sure I connected from two different VMs today. One is still on PL8 where it still worked. The other is still on 720 PL4 and worked as well.

Only 740 PL9 is not displaying any resource+assignment data.

Update: PL10 is out now and with that MRS is working again.

I am sorry for the delay – I did not update this for quite a while…
      SCN migration helped for that.
Also the blog post design changed, and it is ugly now. When I try to edit it in the editor – it looks fine. Seems I cannot fix it for now.

P.S. still difficult to guess the idea behind using WordPress for SCN blogs !?

I am not sure that I fully understand your problem, but with the installation server (NwSapSetupAdmin.exe) you can make your own single .exe file installation, and include your own saplogon.ini there.

Also the new versions have option to take the .ini file from a network resource, every time they start (and/or cache it), perhaps even through HTTP.

If you want to merge 2 .ini files, I guess copy/paste would work , not sure.

Yes, it was checked, but in 2775797 you can find pseudo-link to a patch 2. Moreover in 2772220 exists direct phrase “A solution for SAP GUI 760 is provided as of Patch 2.”. I had to cancel the distributions of GUI update. still in waiting.

But this is typical for OSS notes. same ist btw true for regular service packs (SPxx): Notes pointing to an PL or SP that isn't actual released for customer.

Therefore you always have to doublecheck if  the patch/servie pack is already general available.

Hello, it's several updates for SAP GUI 7.50 and 7.60. Please, correct them in two top tables. The last patch for SAP Gui 7.50 is 15, the last patch level for SAp GUI 7.60 is  5 Hot Fix 2

Hello! I'm sorry about COVID-19. Thanks for correction. Also I found interesting info about SAP GUI 7.70. It could be useful. https://blogs.sap.com/2020/05/06/sap-gui-for-windows-7.70-beta-program-call-for-participation/#

By the way, do you speak Russian?

Yes, very interesting blog, finally I will get 64-bit libraries for my Excel Macros, so it can work in 64bit Excel ?

I studied Russian a lot at school, but after that I didn’t have a chance to practice. ?

I can understand it but hardly speak… Кажется это все, что я могу сказать ?

      Hello SAPGUI Experts

We have a user who is on SAPGUI 740 release patch level 7. When the user tried to download any file from SAP using the System -> SAVE -> To Local File, or the Export button, the session hangs for 30+ minutes. The user is on Windows 10.

Can you advise please if there is any known issue or fix for this?

      Regards

      Michael

      Hello All,

Can anyone point me in the direction of the release notes for SAP GUI for Windows 7.60 Patchlevel 9 and NWBC 7 Update 15?

      Many thanks.

This is the closest of a link I could create: SAP Frontend Components

When you open the download page of your selected component, click the icon in last column.

      Thanks Karel.

This is what I would normally do, but instead of a Release Notes document, there's just a long list of corrections.

I've spend over an hour just looking for the notes.

      Thanks for the reply Miller,

However, this same location where it just shows a catalogue of 471 fix list documents.

Is this considered the "Release Notes"? Where's the PDF with the list of features and fixes in the latest version of the GUI and NWBC?

      Regards.

Do newer versions of sap gui contain the hotfixes from previous patches? I assume they would, but would like to make sure.

Example: installing gui 7.70 patch level 2 would contain the gui 7.70 patch level 1 hotfix 1, correct?

      Hi Jordan,

Yes, that would be a fair assumption.

Ok, I hate going off assumptions mainly bc we want the fix in PL 1 hotfix 1, but our software team doesnt want to push out the hotfix and then PL 2 if they dont have to.

      Thanks Karel

No problem, better to always doublecheck if not 100% sure.

Fyi, on the download page, on the last column, you can click the icon 'Related Info' > 'Content Info'. Over there, it litterally mentions what issues are included in the version you are downloading.

Patch 2 hotfix 1 is already out and this is the direct link to the patch notes: Software Downloads - SAP ONE Support Launchpad

Yea, I saw that - I'll have the IT team push out PL 2 first and see if we need the hotfix for it later. Thanks!

I have a weird problem deploying SAP GUI 770 - documented here https://answers.sap.com/questions/13423425/server-response-is-not-xml-error-while-opening-sap.html

Hoping someone has faced a similar issue or already knows a solution.

      Appreciate any inputs.

I have an incident open with SAP for a month now with zero progress.

      thanks

Hello! My question is whether the SAPscript Legacy Text Editor and the BI add-on for SAP GUI 760 also have to be
installed in addition to the SAP GUI 770 with the latest patch, or is this already included in the SAP GUI?
If there is no inclusion, where can I find these two files?

      Thanks in advance!

      Hi Thomas,

The BI addon for SAP Gui 770 is available in the download area, and for the SAPscript Legacy Text Editor, see note "2221815 - SAPscript Legacy Text Editor controls are not packed in SAP Windows GUI Installation"

      Regards

      Thanks Ingo!
In my special case, does that mean that in addition to the SAP GUI 770, the current patch,
the file SCRLTESP77000_0-70006481.EXE for the SAPscript Legacy Text Editor 7.70 and both files for the BI ADDON
(BIADDON770SP01_0-80004911.EXE and BIADDON770SP02_0-80004911 .EXE) should also be installed?

      Greetings, Thomas

      Hi  Thomas,

You are right, you have to install the latest patch level for SAPGUI 770 and the file for the SAPscript Legacy Text Editor 7.70, but only the latest patch for the BI ADDON PL 2 (you don't need BIADDON770SP01_0-80004911.EXE, as all modifications are included in PL2)..

Btw. I don't think it will affect you, but I mention it just in case. I had an issue with the SAP Script Legacy Text Editor, as it didn't install on PCs with a Spanish operating systems when installed from a distribution folder or via distribution server (you see, very special setting in my environment). I raised a ticket to SAP and they solved it for me.

      Regards

      I.

Hello Ingo, Ok, thank you very much for your help! No, I haven't had such a special case with
a Spanish operating system yet. But good to know if it should happen.

      Many greetings,
      Thomas

Hello, is there a way for you to change the scroll speed of the mouse wheel in SAP GUI 770?
I scroll a lot with longer texts, so that is quite annoying. Maybe this behavior is normal too, and I just haven't noticed
it before. In the Windows environment I have already set the rotation of the mouse wheel. But no change as a result in SAP. :-(
