There is hardly anything more frustrating than being stuck at an airport during a major disruption and waiting to be rebooked – not knowing when you will finally be able to make it to your destination.  I had the “pleasure” of experiencing this a few weeks ago when an ice storm caused a major disruption in Atlanta.

And yet disruptions happen all the time.  Airlines have to face them due to weather, unplanned maintenance, strikes etc.  However, there are unnecessary cancellations and disruption of the network due to ripple effect & poor recovery processes. Some of the reasons are the lack of transparency across all involved departments, multiple sources of information, tedious rescheduling (often manually) of crew and aircraft, and performance issues. Compliance to safety rules might not always be guaranteed in this environment – which is a scary thought in itself.

SAP can help improve this painful process. The SAP HANA-powered day of operations solution will provide real-time visibility and much faster recovery of disruptions with guaranteed compliance. At our upcoming International SAP Conference for Travel &Transportation which will take place in Sinsheim, Germany,  on April 2-3, we will introduce this solution to you, show you a demo of our amazing optimized crew recovery process and offer a panel discussion of industry experts on the challenges of disruptions for airlines. We look forward to seeing you there!
