We just returned from the GMA/FMI Supply Chain Conference. FMI and GMA have created this unique forum for retailers and manufacturers to come together to establish collaborations that foster supply chain efficiency, reduce costs and improve your bottom line.

At this conference, attendees gained real-world strategies through interactive discussions and content-rich sessions addressing the latest supply chain issues. Some of the topics covered included:

  • Enablement of Omni Channel Commerce
  • Improving scheduling through sharing of data
  • Using shopper trends data to drive inventory levels
  • Optimizing direct store deliveries (DSD)
  • And more

SAP was heavily engaged in sponsoring this event which included focused topics for SAP on Demand Driven Supply Networks, Integrated Business Planning and Logistics & Order Fulfillment.  We presented these topics to a number of SAP customers and numerous prospects attending the event.

SAP's sponsorship was highlighted by a speaking presentation by Ganesh Wadawadigi, Vice President, Supply Chain Management, Industry Business Solutions. Ganesh presented "Increase Demand Insight and Forecast Accuracy with Demand Sensing and Shaping," which gave the audience of over 75 attendees a strong sense of how an integrated approach of leveraging technology can help increase sales revenue, lower inventory costs, and enable higher forecast accuracy by leveraging downstream demand signals. Per Ganesh, “Several follow up discussions confirmed that this topic is very pertinent and top of mind for CP manufacturers today and that SAP’s solution strategy is aligned to addressing their needs.”

The events networking event was highlighted by an evening spent at the Hard Rock Café in Disney, an event sponsored by Pepsi.  The event included numerous impersonators, a 12 piece band, dancing and casino-type gaming tables for event guests.

This event is one of a handful events SAP sponsors during the year. The audience is made up of a significant number of SAP customers and targeted prospective customer accounts in the consumer products space.  SAP will remain committed to the GMA to get our message out to their members and support important initiatives the GMA takes in in support of that membership.
