InfoObject modeling in BW 7.4 (more than 60 characters)

In the BW Releases before 7.4, the maximum length of a characteristic value is limited to 60 characters. As of Release 7.4 SPS2, up to 250 characters are possible. To achieve this, the domain RSCHAVL was changed from CHAR 60 to SSTRING 1333. As a result, data elements that use the domain RSCHAVL are “deep” types in an ABAP context.

Texts with a length of up to 1,333 characters are possible for characteristic values. For this, the structure RSTXTSMXL was created which is a “deep” type in an ABAP context. In the internal method interfaces and function module interfaces that handle the texts of characteristic values, the type RSTXTSML was replaced with RSTXTSMXL. However, the RSRTXTSML structure remains unchanged and is required for the description of metadata.

Example creation of ZVENDOR:

Observe attribute Legal Status allowed up to 250 characters.

For long test more than 60 chars, select Long text. Which enables Long text is XL, enable it.

      Hi All,

I have requirement to show a material description of more than 200 characters so I am using Extra Long text property for that material object in BW 7.5 on HANA and I have a BEx query. Here, I am consuming that BEx query in SAP Universe Design Tool(UTD) and using that Universe I have a WEBi report.

The reason that I am using Universe is, the WEBi report is very old one which was built on Universe. so, i have to follow that.

Here, issue is, even though i have set all the properties correctly in BW and BEx, my WEBi report is still showing 60 character length description in my WEBi report. I have become clue less after checking all the ways.

Can you please help me if i am missing something else that should be looked into really.

      Thanks

      Murali

      Hello,

We have a requirement that Extra Long texts need to be loaded with leading spaces. It was working fine with TXTLG, with TXTXL it removes the spaces. Does anyone know which conversion Exit can be used or this problem can be solved?

      Thanks!
