“SAP UA and Universities Successful Together” – that was the motto of a full-day workshop in Walldorf on November 15, 2013. Opened by Dr. Bernd Welz, Executive Vice President and head of Solution & Knowledge Packaging, SAP AG and Ann Rosenberg, Global head of SAP University Alliances, professors and representatives from the UCCs and ACCs in the DACH region discussed ways to intensify the co-operation. A pledge to reach this was regarded by establishing a University Alliances Academic Board for the DACH region – of course with the option for similar boards in the other regions as well. It was mutually agreed by all parties that such an Academic Board would be very beneficial to achieve SAP University Alliances ambitions goals. Soon the vision was captured – establishing the SAP UA Academic Board to work as a “trusted advisor“ on the continuous improvement process of the global SAP University Alliances program. Focus areas are SAP-related teaching, research and training, most importantly the curriculum development and knowledge transfer between SAP and universities.
The SAP UA Academic Board will review or rise new topics (especially strategic topics) for relevance, innovation potential, implementation feasibility, fit, disruption related to the already implemented SAP offerings and give their suggestion on how new SAP offerings can be integrated into existing or new curricula and how knowledge transfer to lecturers can be provided. To ensure all perspectives are taken into account, the SAP UA Academic Board in the DACH region will have 12 seats for lecturers, four seats for the UCCs and ACCs in the DACH region and 2 seats for SAP University Alliances members – plus experts on demand.
In a follow-up meeting, Prof. Karl Liebstückel (University of Applied Sciences Wuerzburg, Germany) has been elected as the chairperson of the University Alliances Academic Board for the DACH region. Prof. Christine Legner (University of Lausanne, Switzerland) has been elected as the substitute chairperson. They will be in charge of the University Alliances Academic Board for the DACH region until end of 2014, assuming the first election will be along the DACH & EMEA Academic Conference in autumn 2014. The University Alliances Academic Board for the DACH region will meet 4 times per year. One of these 4 meetings will be an onsite, full day workshop in Walldorf. Results and news from the University Alliances Academic Boards in the DACH region will be shared regularly. Furthermore, the lecturers within the Academic Boards – being the representatives of all lecturers within the SAP University Alliances Program – are more than happy to receive innovative ideas and suggestions to improve the program itself from the lecturers who are actively contributing to the program.
