Book Review: Uptime Strategies for Excellence in Maintenance Management 2nd Edition
Just finished this book: Uptime Strategies for Excellence In Maintenance Management 2nf Edition by John D. Campbell and James V. Reyes-Picknell. Wonderful book. I read it in one sitting. The 357 page book provides an excellent overview on today’s maintenance strategies and environment. Definitely targeted at people who have some experience in topic of asset management / maintenance but have not been exposed to the whole solution area. This book full of modern examples and provides an overview of the many topics that concern maintenance management.
Based on their Uptime Pyramid of Excellence (see diagram) the authors explore each topic separately.
The Uptime Pyramid of Excellence – Uptime Strategies for Excellence In Maintenance Management
While this is not the book for someone to learn in detail about the current programs in place in maintenance (e.g. Reliability Centered Maintenance or Total Productive Maintenance) the book covers the various programs at a level that leaves a good understanding of what they are and where they fit in the overall strategic process of maintenance management.
I would recommend this book to people who are just getting into the Asset Maintenance Management world or who have management responsibility for assets and want to understand and have an overview on how the various programs and processes fit together.
With a four page biliography they give plenty of opportunities to read in more detail on the topics that are of interest to you and your company
