Over the past few years, Enterprise Information Technology space has crossed boundaries and increasingly bought the world economies together. The rise and rise of internet in our lives has increased the pace of business and the need to quickly respond to challenges and opportunities.

SAP has thrived on the software which runs the core business operations, enabling them to optimally run on best practices. Now, the next challenge for SAP is to build on this foundation of core software to help its customers to manage their processes, reduce the cost of their ownership and enable them to be competitive through latest technological solutions.

SAP has been remarkably agile in all the three areas of customer’s interest. Over past few years, SAP has been pushing tools and platforms which enables its partners to provide solutions addressing not just the existing needs of customer but also preparing them for the next wave of business growth. In this blog, I would like share the 3 key pillars in the SAP NetWeaver technology space which in my view are critical in the success for SAP and its customers.

Pillar #1: SAP NetWeaver BPM – Ensure Customer agility in managing their business processes

SAP NetWeaver BPM is the key discipline in SAP business IT environment. SAP took the bold step of branching out SAP NetWeaver into Composite environment(CE) only a couple of years ago versions 7.1 and 7.2. SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 and 7.2 were positioned as the technology stack of SAP NetWeaver  with focus on BPM and SOA. SOA has over period fizzled out but its relevance cannot be undermined.

SAP NetWeaver 7.3 is the real deal with things coming back together and BPM ( along with BRM ) is more stable and potent solution to design the business processes and facilitate the customer to manage those business processes swiftly.

Pillar #2: SAP on CloudEmpower the customers to beat the market volatility

The SAP Cloud portfolio allows the customers to build its solutions in an innovative way and execute them at scale with minimal investment. Some of he options in cloud include in the categories of Platform As A Service ( PAAS) Ex: SAP Mobile Platform and Software As A Service ( SAAS) Ex: SAP Cloud for Sales, SAP Cloud for HR.

SAP NetWeaver Cloud allows customers to provision the NetWeaver server based on their business need to host their applications.

The options are now readily available in the various areas of SAP Eco-space on the Cloud.

Pillar #3: SAP Mobility – Allow the SAP data to be accessible in a secure way on mobile. Go Mobile.

SAP with its acquisition of Sybase went aggressive on mobility. Since then, Syclo and other acquisitions have strengthened SAP in the mobile eco-space,

SMP 3.0 is the latest offering of SAP to enable SAP and its partners to ease mobile developments for the customers. The platforms reduces the development cost and assists in easier maintenance and provisioning of the applications. SAP UI5 is another important piece in the mobility solutions are it allows the views to be built on open web standards. With the adoption of the Cordova as SAP Kapsel, SAP is keeping pace with the ever changing technologies in mobile.

Its safe to say, SAP is invested in the the area of mobility and as a customer, they will be supported in their initiative to “Go Mobile”.

Conclusion: The three pillars of SAP NetWeaver BPM, SAP on Cloud and SAP Mobility are critical for every customer in the Enterprise IT space. As always, embracing it rather than shunning it is the way forward. Eventually, they will become a necessity rather than a luxury,

BPM is concept which may not have been put into action. Its potential is immense. We have teams working other BPM tools which are closely integrated with Internet of Things based solutions.

I strongly believe in BPM in having the potential to be a key component in revamping customer solutions.

          Regards,
