SAP River: Debugging with Data Preview

SAP HANA Academy’s Philip Mugglestone demonstrates how to use the Data Preview window to debug applications that are developed in SAP River.

The SAP River application development environment integrates with SAP HANA Studio’s preexisting debugging capabilities.

To enable debugging XS must first be activated. Then a user must paste in an alter configuration statement code in the configure window to turn on the debugging feature. Also, Philip informs that each individual user must have the rights to use the debugger. So Philip shows how to explicitly add a debugger role to a user.

By opening the debug window a user can set break points in the application. These breakpoints help when further examining what certain actions are doing during the debugging process.

The Data Preview window facilitates an easy way to debug applications. Selecting the “Run in Debugger” option when running an action reveals a plethora of useful information about that action.

The brief tutorial video is a quick tour on how to use the debugger when developing applications with SAP River.
