Tahir Hussain “Bob” Babar, from the SAP HANA Academy, details how to use SAP HANA in online mode as a data source for SAP Lumira.

Bob notes that data sources for SAP Lumira can only be built using the analytic view in SAP HANA. Bob outlines the basic differences between sourcing data via connecting to SAP HANA and downloading from SAP HANA. One of the main advantages of connecting to SAP HANA is that a user’s data and visualizations will update every time the data is changed in SAP HANA.

Bob demonstrates how to create a data set by selecting the measures and attributes in the analytics view and details all of the different options for changing measures and attributes. If a user wants to change the type of aggregation for a measure or attribute it must be done in the analytic view in SAP HANA.

While walking through how to build geographic hierarchies Bob shows how SAP Lumira helps users to clean up data by automatically noting unsolved ambiguities and offering options for correction. However if any cities or countries are not found, a user must change them in the analytic view.

Bob finishes the video by detailing a few of the limitations of manipulating and enriching data in SAP Lumira when working online with SAP HANA.
