Demo on parallel change requests in MDG-M

with the newest MDG 7.0 release SAP will support parallel change requests. Of course, SAP MDG supported already parallel steps in one change requests but it was not possible to start a second change request for the same record. Now, with MDG 7.0 exactly this is possible!

The concept of parallel change requests makes maybe most sense in the context of materials but its supported for all domains including custom objects.

Some bullet points on the topic: “Support of Parallel Change Requests – Multiple Change Requests per Material at the same time”

  • Why?
    • MDG`s comprehensives data models:
MDG-M many views, >400 attributes including organization-dependent data
    • One object, multiple owners & maintainers
During change, data of plant A is processed  and approved  in parallel  and independently by other people than data  of plant B
GOAL: Faster organizations are not required to wait  for the slowest!!
    • Multiple & concurrent reasons  for changes
All in parallel: Add new plant data (long duration!), update  of dimensions,  urgent  corrections of wrong description
GOAL: Long term changes do not block urgent corrections!
  • What?
    • Parallel Change Requests as standard feature in MDG 7.0
    • Initiate and process concurrent changes to the same object
    • Independent processing of each change request e.g. own notes, own log, process flow and processors, individual approval, rejection and finalization
    • Consistency by preventing that the same attributes are changed  by concurrent  change requests.

The following click-trough demo goes through this process:

      Hi Steffen

Thanks for sharing such wonder demo.I have few question for this as per below

      1. Is it possible to use this in creation process also or only applicatable for change process?
      2. Is it possible with SAP deliverd CR type (MAT02) or we need to define custom CR Type?
      3. Can it possible to add Options for parrallel Change Request? (Which appears in pop up window)

      thanks for the feedback:

      1. as written above: Only on change processes. Not meaningful for creation processes. Maybe a good idea to have a simple create process only on global data and trigger a automatic follow up CR via BADI (see extensibility guides)

      2. Not with MAT02 in standard. You can copy MAT02 to ZMAT02 in some minutes and enhance for parallel CRs

      3. Do not understand this question in detail but in general you can do a lot of things. You can do almost all what you can do for none- parallel CRs.

      Best Regards

      Hi Stefen

      Thank you for the clarification.

For point no 1 Is it possible to create material only with global data and in change process by using parallel processing we can creates sales data, logstic data, accounting data and so on?

      Hi Steffen

      Demo link is not working.

Also, is it possible to have a non-parallel CR triggered and then a Parallel CR for same object.

      Hello Steffen Ulmer,

Is there any possibility to renew the demo link?

      We would highly appreciate this.
