When SAP Co-CEO Bill McDermott was recently asked who he would name as a top tech leader of the past 25 years, the answer came fast and easy: “Hasso Plattner. He’s one of the most innovative technology geniuses of our time.” McDermott’s high praise for Plattner was broadcast live from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland during the popular CNBC show, “Squawk on the Street.” To hear McDermott’s comments in their entirety, check out the video below.

Think McDermott is alone in his praise of Plattner? Think again.

CNBC’s top tech editor, Jon Fortt, recently named Plattner as one of the top 25 Media and Technology leaders of the past 25 years. “SAP is not a company that everybody is intimately familiar with, but this is the software that runs the back office of just about every huge business,” said Fortt. “There aren’t a lot of huge, multi-billion dollar software companies in Europe so he’s a very important figure in the history of technology.” Plattner joins perennial giants Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and newcomers like Mark Zuckerberg. Congratulations, Hasso!
