This week the Labs IT Management Team came together in order to discuss and put together the 2014 Objective Maps for the Global Labs It Teams. Over the course of the last three years I have seen a lot of involvement from our group with CSR, but for the first time ever we have included an actual goal for CSR within our objective map. This goal will be cascaded down to all areas within Labs IT and then to each region.
The intent is not to force everyone within the organization to participate in an event, or to include themselves in month of service, etc….it is to ensure a focus from everyone in Labs IT towards CSR and to get thought processes around the variety of ways we can help overall CSR from within Labs IT. Our group has always contributed towards Volunteerism……in fact during one Management Meeting a part of the agenda was set aside towards helping a company in Israel that gathers food from farmers to donate to community kitchens and people in need….a large food bank as such of fresh food. Personal involvement in each areas Month of Service is almost a given these days from most people…..and we had other executives within Labs IT lend their expertise to non-profit organisations by being Board Memebers in different organisations.
There are so many different ways to contribute to CSR that everyone can participate in either personally or for Labs IT. As an example Labs IT through the local CSR group within Canada donated 36 machines to a public school within Canada that was in dire need of technology. In Brazil, social centers for children, government education centers, spiritual centers and volunteer projects have all benefitted from our donations of technology.
I think it is great to see the focus for CSR clearly spelled out within objective maps for the first time in our group, and of course feel that by defining an actual objective that it is clearly showing that CSR is ‘AS’ important as any other objective…not only in the organization itself but also in helping SAP increase its CSR overall.
