2013 was a year full of growth and innovation. Over the course of the year, healthcare has begun to shift focus to the importance of not only making use of big data, but making it meaningful. We havebegun to emphasize the importance of the patient, and the real implications of the new healthcare laws and strategies that have or are beginning to take effect.
Below is a survey by HIMSS that I found useful and relates quite well to the solutions that SAP provides for healthcare on its flagship HANA platform. A whopping 65% say that cost reduction would be their main priority. Balancing innovation and R&D with rising costs of healthcare is a challenge. If they could pass on some of the benefits and savings to the patients, that would be great!
SAP can contribute significantly to healthcare innovation in the industry in 2014 with its solutions. We have been developing applications that support and accelerate clinical decision making, helping to cut costs and improve outcomes at each step of healthcare delivery, while ensuring that patients receive the maximum benefit from every research and healthcare dollar spent.
