Hi All,

As you all Know about BICS connection, a new way of connecting to BW from BO. Here i would like to share my knowledge on how to use BEx Variables in Dashboard through a component "Query Prompt selector".

We want the below BEx Variables to available as a selection screen for the users to select.

Let us map the hierarchy node variable Organization unit.

First create a BICS connection to BW either in Central Management console or Information design Tool.

Using BICS connection, Connect to your BEx Query on which you want to build dashboard

Select the BICS Connection

Select the BEx Query and drag the required dimension and key figures into Result objects.

NOTE: If you have any Hierarchy node Variable with dependency and no default value then other variables will be Grayed out. To overcome apply the below setting in CMC - Dashboard processing server.

For more information,Refer to the note 1711564.

BEx Variables will be available in Prompts section. Use the Component "Query prompt Selector" and map it to all the variables.

If you have multiple queries, check the option against the query which you want to refresh.

Next Design your selection screen using push buttons,Canvas container and place the "Query prompt selector" inside the canvas.

It appears as a popup and based on the selection the Entire Data set to Dashboard is filtered.

Thanks and Regards,

Jethendra
