Analytics are about getting insights on data. But in addition to that, they are also about technology, tools, business applications and platforms that need to evolve and adapt to current and future trends.

Analytics become more and more strategic to all companies due to a set of trends that modify deeply the world, the classical business models and the interactions between companies, partners and customers.

IT and telecom industry are reaching an inflection point creating a hyper-connected world that is transforming the society and economy. New types of computing platforms become de facto standards (cloud, virtualization) and deliver their added value on-demand and as services.

A new version of Internet is also becoming a reality: it leverages HTML5, is consumed through mobile devices, integrates the Internet of Things and enables machine to machine (M2M) interactions.

Business applications, analytics and technologies are now built with mobile devices and mobile user experiences in mind because they should be reachable from anywhere at any time.

New ways of sharing, processing and digesting information are required to cope with the explosion of data coming from social media and connected devices. It is the time for real-time analytics that are enabled by in–memory technologies and deeply integrated with business platforms. Analytics get more and more embedded into transactional in-memory platforms that run companies business applications (CRM, ERP…) instead of running on the side, on top of data warehouses that cannot handle anymore the volume of data and speed of updates needed for real-time decision making.

Analytics move from reporting and descriptive to predictive to support decision makers. Real-time analytics play an increasingly bigger role to work out the meaning of collected and shared data and get to decisions by processing latest information. Instant access to decisions becomes ubiquitous.

Anticipating future technologies and businesses transformations are also part of the DNA of our Lab. Through its specialized expertise, both technical and functional, SAP Labs Paris connects end-users with enterprise data by providing the next-generation analytics products on SAP’s mobile and HANA platforms.
