This short document is regarding common issue during upgrade Jurisdiction code popup. Most of clients have implemented third party system to determine the Jurisdiction code for given address of customer (postal code, city, state).

In GUI there is standard Popup to show Jurisdiction code from where user can select the required one. But in case of Web UI there is only a value
help on that field and when user fill the data and press enter ,it automatically select the first Jurisdiction code for the customer without informing that there are Multiple jurisdiction code exist for that particular address.
So requirement is an Error should come for the user when no Popup appears to
make selection (Restrict auto selection).

Solutions (implemented):-

  1. Implement the custom popup on this field on Enter event which will show the existing Jurisdiction code for that address (to show same functionality as in GUI).
  2. Implementation of Error message for multiple jurisdiction code, so user can check available code list when there is more
    than one code exist.

Creating custom popup is simply custom enhancement.But in
second solution we just maintain the error message for multiple codes as per Note
781506 as:

  1. In Transaction SM30 to maintain the V_T100C view.

  2.Maintain the message type of the TAX_TXJCD (Application area) 100 message in Table T100C.

    Replace ‘-‘ and ‘W’ with ‘E’ for the batch process.

With this customizing system will not select the
first Jurisdiction code from the available list of codes for that address
Instead it will show the error to user
No unique jurisdiction code cannot be determined’
and then user can select
required one from standard Value help.
