Every conference promises attendees that they will walk away with fresh insights to use for immediate business value. The SAPInsider Human Resource (HR) Conference is among the few that actually delivers. But that’s not the only reason why attendance is expected to increase at this year’s 11th annual conference where approximately 1,700 HR professionals will converge on March 11-14 in Orlando, Florida. New for 2014 is content specifically geared towards SuccessFactors customers who may or may not also be running SAP software.

Case in point is this year’s Expert Panel, a roundtable discussion titled, “What you need to do immediately back at the office and next year.” The four experts on the panel told me why they think this event should be on every HR manager’s radar screen.

Reason #1: Get guidance on mapping an optimal path to the cloud

Moderator Bill Kutik, HR Tech columnist and executive says that the panel will offer critical guidance on the most important decision that HR practitioners will make this year, namely cloud computing.

“For SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) users, the first option seems to be creating a hybrid solution with SuccessFactors cloud applications. Some have criticized that as too complex. Another solution is replacing R/3 HCM with SuccessFactors Employee Central. Of course, there are third-party SaaS solutions from other vendors. The panel will consider the costs and benefits of each.”

Reason #2: Learn how to redesign HR practices for a better future

Josh Bersin, Partner and Founder at Bersin by Deloitte, finds today’s workforce unlike the workforce before 2008―with different motivations, career aspirations, and demographics.

“We’ll answer questions like: How can you use new and updated HR software to change the way you do business?  How can you change your HR practices to much better attract people, develop people, motivate people, and provide decision-ready data for line managers?”

Reason #3: Find out what it takes to accelerate the business impact of HR

Industry analyst Christa Degnan Manning, Senior Vice President of Research at HfS Research, says the panel will also focus on two of HR’s biggest challenges in 2014: being relevant to the business and improving employee productivity and engagement.

“People will learn how to preserve their SAP investments and use it for business growth and profitability. They will also understand the larger issues impacting the role of HR and IT in globalizing businesses of the future, as well as hear examples of companies that are using the breadth of SAP technologies to increase the impact on the business today.”

Reason #4: Hear how market leaders are transforming employee experience

Industry analyst, Lisa Rowan, Research Vice President of HR, Talent and Learning Strategies at IDC, says that while employee engagement is much discussed, employers can actually do a lot more to impact experience.

“One important element of experience is the applicability and timeliness of the technology that employees touch.  Social, mobile, and consumerization will play big roles in how HR delivers its experience to employees. This is an opportunity to hear how those at the forefront are evolving to enhance experience.”

All 120 sessions of the event agenda promise to deliver what past attendees have found most valuable: a line-up of presenters that’s equal parts SAP and SuccessFactors solution experts, customers, and independent consultants. It’s clear that HR managers seeking the latest solution roadmaps, lessons from actual customer projects, and leading best practices have every reason to attend.
