Hi,

This document provides details on how to perform Refresh Structure in SAP BO BI Platform 4.0 IDT(Information Design Tool) tool.

Versions of Software Used-


SAP Business Objects BI Platform 4 (Version- 14.0.6.1036)

Prerequisites -

  • Access to IDT tool

Steps-


Login to IDT and retrieve the Universe which you want to refresh.


Go to the Data Foundation Layer(.dfx) .



Click Detect and select "Refresh Structure" from the drop down.



A series of window will come:


1. Display the Missing tables from the universe.



2.Display the Missing Columns from universe.



3.Added Columns in universe if any in the backend Database.


Below you can see 4 new columns has been added to the Database which will we can add using the refresh structure.


You can select the columns which you want to add by selecting the check box against the columns.

5.At last Summary of the changes as per the backend database.


You can see we have checked only two columns in Added Columns, so only that two columns will be get added to Universe.


Press Finish.



Now, Go to Business Layer(.blx)


Right Click on the Universe and select "Insert Candidate Objects".


A new window will come displaying all the new objects to be added with a checkbox checked.


You can select the objects from the list that needs to be added as per your requirements.



You can see that Batch object is added so its coming with a checked box.


Click Finish.



After clicking Finish Save the Business Layer and Publish it to the repository to be used by users with updated list of objects.
