Introduction

I was motivated to publish this document by a recent discussion thread. Summarizing the challenge with the standard WDA iView template is that the generated URL is built based on the system object, namespace, application and parameters. To access External Aliases, for example /nwbc, the standard WDA iView template isn't suitable.

Solution

The Application Integrator can be used to achieve the requirement. Application Integrator application help can be accessed using this link.

Go to Content Administration and navigate to Portal Applications -> com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap -> Generic and select "Copy" from the context menu. Navigate to the directory for your custom iViews and select "Paste as PCD Object" from the context menu. Give a name, ID and namespace for the iView. Open the iView and edit the following properties:

System: eg. SAP_ECC_HumanResources

URL Template: eg. <System.Access.WAS.protocol>://<System.Access.WAS.hostname>/nwbc

With the suggested properties NWBC for HTML will be started. The used System Object needs to have Web Application Server (Web AS) properties defined.
