I would like to share my experience on C_HANAIMP131 – SAP Certified Application Associate (Edition 2013) – SAP HANA certification. I successfully passed the certification last month. This certification mostly focuses on data modeling including advanced data modeling, data provisioning, and reporting.

Study Time: 5-6 Days

Below is the list of sections that were covered in the certification:

1. Administration of Data Models

2. Data Modeling – SQL Script

3. Deployment Scenarios of SAP HANA

4. Data Modeling – Analytic Views

5. Data Modeling – Attribute Views

6. Data Modeling – Calculation Views

7. Data Provisioning

8. Security and Authorization

9. Optimization of Data Models and Reporting

10. Advanced Data Modeling

11. Reporting

12. SAP HANA Live and Rapid Deployment Solution for SAP HANA

HA100 and HA300 cover all the topics those are listed above. These books will only give you theoretical knowledge, but you need to have practical knowledge to clear this certification. There were more than 70% scenario based questions and lot of questions where you need to choose 3 correct answers out of 5 options.

The following link will provide you more information on this certification:

https://training.sap.com/v2/certification/c_hanaimp131-sap-certified-application-associate-edition-2013—sap-hana-g/certification-details/

Passing Score is 61%. There is plenty of time (180 minutes) to answer 80 questions and then review them 2 to 3 times. So, don’t hesitate to take a much needed break to drink water or go to restroom while your time is ticking. This will really refresh your mind.

This is my first blog here. Hopefully, I believe that I covered most of the points and this will help the candidates who are planning to take this certification in the near future.

Good Luck

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing the information. Can you please share any sample questions. How difficult is it to pass the exam? I am planning to take it this month and any information that you could share would be really great!!

    Thanks

      Hi Anitha,

I don’t have any sample questions with me. You should be able to get the sample questions from the pdf file that is attached at the following link:

      http://training.sap.com/v2/certification/c_hanaimp131-sap-certified-application-associate-edition-2013—sap-hana-g/

Also, try to search on yahoo and google. All the practice questions that you might see online will be mostly for HANAIMP_1 certification and not for this new certification.

It all depends on how much practical experience you have with modeling, advanced modeling in HANA, etc. I have some practical experience and felt it to be a bit difficult. If you have practical experience and also read HA100/HA300, then you will easily breeze through this certification. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Good Luck with your preparation.

    Hi Jaskirat,

I have ABAP back ground but no exposure to SAP BI.I need to understand need of SAP BI work experience for completion of this certificate.

      Hi Kundan,

The only ABAP experience you need is for SLT transformations related to this certification. This certification is focused on the Data Modeling and Implementation. So, having BI background really helps. As I mentioned above, this new certification now covers more HANA related sections. You need to know about data modeling, data provisioning, reporting, etc and need to have practical experience on data modeling. Let me know if you need any other information.

      Hello Madhuri,

I hope your exam preparation is going good. Yes, HA100 and HA300 covers all the sections that are mentioned in this certification. You need to go through these books atleast twice. I mentioned in the blog that most of the questions are scenario based. So, you need to have some practical experience to clear this certification. I don’t think there is any limit on the number of times that you can take this certification. Let me know how your exam goes. Good Luck and Best Wishes.

Adding to the points from Poorna,

I have written 4 certifications in SAP So far. And i can tell you one thing for sure, The exam never asks you any questions out of prescribed content .

For HANA, it is HA100 and HA300 ( Also see the link shared by Poorna ) and exam will never come out of these books . ( unless for Master level certifications ).

Note: as per my experience in writing these certifications 🙂

        Regards,

        Krishna Tangudu

      Hi Veda,

For this certification, HA100 and HA300 covers all the topic areas mentioned in the below link (this link also exist above in the blog):

      http://training.sap.com/shop/certification/c_hanaimp131-sap-certified-application-associate-edition-2013—sap-hana-g/certification-details/

I would recommend having practical experience. If you practice on the sandbox, then that will also help. Good Luck with your preparation.

    Hello,

Can anyone help me out by saying the process of booking the test. When i am trying to book my test online, in the checkout section it is saying that the event is invalid or expired. I have a question do we need to book the test online or directly can I go the test center to give the test.

    Thanks

    Hi Jaskirat,

I’m going for the exam at the end of the month.

I have considerable exp in BW and I’ve had some hands on exp since I’d played around with the basic efashion scenario on a cloudshare instance earlier. I’ve also played around with some basic ETL using SLT and BODS. However I don’t have much by way of book knowledge. I’d gone through HA100 and HA300 a few months ago but never got the time to appear for the exam.

Even now, though the exam is in two weeks, I’ll hardly have time to study since I’m on the cusp of a go-live and barely have time to breathe. Do you think there’s any chance I’ll get through based on my BW background, vague memories of HA100 and HA300 and some practical hands-on with what I’d call a really basic scenario (efashion)?

    Warm regards,

    Ram

      Hi Ram,

If I would have been in your situation, then I would have rescheduled the exam. Practical experience on HANA really helps clear the exam. I read HA100 and HA300 twice before taking the exam. So, vague memories will not be of much help. I am not trying to scare you. My honest recommendation would be to reschedule the exam and prepare for the exam before taking it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Good Luck

I took the exam C_HANA_IMP1 in Nov but missed by  a whisker in getting the pass marks for the exam. There after I got quite busy in my project and didn’t had a chance to retake. Now I decide to take the exam. My question to you all is Can I take the exam again for discount without having to pay the full amt of 500$. Appreciate your time.

    Thanks !!
