Starting with SP09, Software Update Manager (SUM) offers the new one-step migration to the SAP HANA database, called Database Migration Option (DMO). For an introduction, check out the documentDatabase Migration Option (DMO) of SUM – Introduction

The DMO procedure offers a new user interface (UI) technology which is based on SAPUI5. The following short video offers a first impression on that UI and it’s advantages. Use the following link to view the video:

Note that the new UI is was initially only availalbe for the DMO scenario. With SUM 1.0 SP 16 (available as of February 15th 2016), the new UI is the default for all SUM scenarios: DMO as well as maintenance for ABAP systems, for Java systems, and for Dual-Stack systems.

    Thanks Boris,

I am working with DMO currently and pleased with the features. The alert and information notifications are excellent and found them very useful.

Where there is a dialog waiting for input or upon hitting an error, the web session expires pretty soon. Can we control this?

Also I believe the guest mode is not available currently? Are there plans to introduce in coming patches?

    Thanks for your support.

      Thanks Srinivas for the feedback.

Sorry that I cannot offer you a way to control the dialog timeout in the browser. Just a hint: the timeout depends on the browser: I think that Firefox offers a slightly longer time until timeout compared to Internet Explorer.

The question on a guest or observer mode is currently in discussion, but I have no details on that yet.

      Kind regards, Boris

Hi Boris, I have some question regarding to the consuming size of SUM with DMO.

my question is: how can I know how much space I need to use when migrate from Oracle 11g to Hana, with 6TB of storage.
