From the beginning of the SAP_ALL to GLOBAL domain migration project LABS IT has had to participate as one of the major infrastructure owners.  During the initial stages of the project more than 15,000 LABS IT owned/provisioned servers were identified and decisions made if the domain migration affected them or not.   At this time, more than 700 Priority 1 systems were identified where LABS IT, in collaboration with the different application owners, ensured that the applications running on the servers would be ready for the planned user mass-migration at the end of the year.

LABS IT was successful in making all these 700+ Prio1 systems domain migration co-existence ready by the May 1st, 2013 deadline when pilot user migrations started.   Additional 4,500 systems had to have their operating systems modified to ensure that the necessary changes were done in order for them to work with both domains.   At the end of the year LABS IT completed domain migration for all permanent SAP_ALL servers to GLOBAL domain and additionally all service accounts in use (more than 200) were migrated and the corresponding applications reconfigured. All groups in use were migrated also to the new domain.

LABS IT is the first infrastructure owner inside SAP to successfully migrate all permanent servers and service accounts under their responsibility to the new domain.
