Mining Company Barrick Chooses Ariba to Move Forward in Supply Area

Multinational Barrick, from the mining industry in Chile, has chosen SAP Ariba to modernize its operations. An internal assessment conducted by the company identified eight areas that should be strengthened in order to move forward efficiently in the supply area. E-commerce was one of them, so Barrick decided to establish an aggressive regional implementation strategy that would allow the business to advance in the fastest time possible. Ariba, an SAP company, was a natural partner. Chile was chosen as the first country for the implementation, followed by Peru, Argentina, and then the entire region. “We can proudly show that, thanks to effective and efficient strategies, after the first year of implementation we have already improved operations by 60%, putting us two years ahead for the total benefits of the project,” said Ricardo Reyes, Regional Supply Chain Manager at Barrick South America.
