Manual transports in PI using File System..Its simple
If your CTS, CMS are not working and if we have some urgent pending transport we can choose one option of transport which is manual. Our ID and IR objects can easily be transported by using this method but we may have dependency on our basis team if we go for this option and if we have access to server directories then it become simple to us .
So here are the steps that we need to follow to complete this task.
Step 1:
Go to your namespace whose objects you want to export.
Step 2;
Select the Mode as ‘Transport Using File System’
Step 3:
Click Continue
Step 4:
Select ‘Object Set’ as per your requirement.
Step 5:
Take an example of Individual Objects and go to middle icon of ? to select the required object.
Step 6:
All kind of repository objects are shown for manual selection, select the required one.
Step 7:
For one or e.g. we have selected one mapping.
Step 8:
One selected it will be shown like this, just click ‘Finish’
Step 9:
After Clicking on finish you will get details of the file. Note down the Export Path and Filename from the window.
Step 10:
Go to the Export path location of you PI server from where you want to Transport the Objects like Dev. E:\usr\sap\,Dev PI server name>\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\export
Step 11:
Locate you file and place to target PI server IMPORT directory. E:\usr\sap\<Quality Server name>\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\import
Step 12:
Now go to your QA PI server and Go to ‘Tools’ -> Import design objects
Step 13:
The file will be visible if you have placed it right, you just need to click OK to get it imported.
Once imported the placed file will move to importedFiles
Very Helpful Blog. Keep Posting. 🙂
Is this hold true for SAP PO 7.4 version as well?? Cant we transports created and imported manually?
Hi Vaibhav, yes it works in 7.4 as well.
HI Ashutosh,
Thanks for the helpful blog,
can you also tell, if we can choose the directory to export this .tpz file which is created, or does it always go to the default path in the PI Server?
also, is there any way to export the file to local system, if we do not have access tot he PI Server directories.?
thanks in advance.
Hello,
I am not sure if you can change the URL, i guess basis can do this while installing the application.
And you can import the .tpz files into your local system, i guess you need to have the admin role.
