The year 2013 is quickly coming to an end. Many of us are executing end of year and end of quarter activities while planning for the year ahead. With the many demands upon us, we want to make educated decisions quickly that will pay off in 2014.

I have collected a few customer feature stories that speak to mobile pay offs and summarized here for you in one blog. Hopefully this information is helpful to you as you make those final conference calls, attend those last meetings, and submit your 2014 plan for success.

I was able to get the skinny on how North America's leading producer of semi-trailers, Wabash National Corporation, implemented its first mobile application with a payback of less than a year. In this interview  with Kyle Hiatt, Software Engineer, Wabash National Corporation we, discuss the problem identification process, identifying SAP mobile solutions such as SAP Mobile Platform and SAP Afaria, educating developers, using an SAP Rapid Deployment solutions as an implementation partner to accelerate the project, and going live with the solution.

Click on the video to see the full interview. My favourite part was Kyle's advice for other developers approaching a mobile project.

Kyle's advice for others: Do your research on mobile solutions before starting your mobile project. Make sure that it meets all the user requirements today and in the future as you expand the solution to different user views and more.

But there is more.

A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to host a webinar with Varian Medical to learn how they have implemented many mobile solutions that have great return on investment (ROI). This session provided such amazing mobile ROI details and best practices, the SAP Mobile team added it to the Mobile Insights webcast series replays.

One of the speakers on in the session, Peter Matzek, Business Product Owner, Varian Medical Systems, made a comment during our prep sessions that stuck with me. He made a statement that bought out the humanity factor of their work and mobile solution. He said, "User adoption of the apps we created with SAP Mobile Platform has been fantastic; 400 engineers were running the field service app within a month. Having the tools you need to do your job better is a good feeling, especially when you are helping to save lives."

Learn How Varian Medical's Mobile Investment Has Paid Off.  Access the replay session here.

These are two mobile customer stories of how mobile has paid off to improve efficiencies in the enterprise and transform the employee to consumer experience. Best of luck with your end of year activities and hope that these stories provide you with great insights for your 2014 mobile project plans.
