It is that time again where ASUG volunteers invite you to submit your presentation proposal for ASUG Annual Conference to be held this year June 3-5, 2014 in Orlando, Florida.  The deadline to submit is January 10, 2014.

Why should you submit?  You attend the conference for FREE, you get the opportunity to share your knowledge and showcase yourself and your company.  Additionally, ASUG Annual Conference is co-located with SAPPHIRE, which is one of SAP's largest events.

What are some tips to submit?

ASUG has pulled together some tips and guidelines for here.   I would also add it is helpful to include a "catchy title".  A real-world example I have seen is two years ago we had a community session covering BEx where only a handful of people showed up.  This past year, we titled the same session "BEx Quo Vadis (Future of BEx)" and the room was full, engaging, and it was a great session.  Also ASUG has a checklist here to help you complete your submission.

Last year over 2,500 proposed sessions were submitted so it is important your title stand out and catch the ASUG Volunteer Program Committee's attention.  Another good title for an abstract is I'm No Magician, but I've Got My Own Bag of Dashboard (Xcelsius) Tricks (and I'll Share) which was presented at the ASUG BusinessObjects user conference and is now an ASUG 2014 webcast.

What is the ASUG Program Committee Looking for?

We are looking for high-quality abstracts where our members want to attend.  Previous year's feedback from fellow members given to me personally was members wanted customer stories too.

What other things to attendees want to hear?  Survey says...

If you are an ASUG member, ASUG is having a survey to "Shape the direction of ASUG BI webcasts and education sessions:" 2013 ASUG Business Intelligence Community Survey – Open until December 16.  The link to take the survey is https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ASUGbi2013

Preliminary results, with over 115 responses so far, show members want to hear Best Practices of solutions first.

Where do I submit?
