SMP 3.0 First Look

Our team at Rapid has been working hard to implement the brand-new SAP SMP 3.0; it’s been an eye-opening experience! SAP Mobile Platform 3.0 is the newest iteration of SAP’s mobile platform offerings, and this one features a few things never-before-seen.

The biggest upgrade we noticed immediately when installing and testing SMP 3.0 was the usability. The UX has been tremendously upgraded, with new features and an easy-to-understand flow. The most-used administrator tools are easy to find and the most relevant data (installations, users, etc.) is displayed graphically.

One of our key developers, David Liang, had this to say about SMP 3.0: “With SAP Mobile Platform 3.0, the platform is not going to support MBOs development. SAP is promoting its Agentry platform for developing mobile applications. A lot of the stuff you can do in MBOs can be done on Agentry such as offline support.” SMP 3.0 represents a push away from mobile business objects and towards application development, streamlining much of the process and dropping unnecessary steps.

We were glad to get this sneak-peek at SMP 3.0 and to be one of the very first companies implementing it. We’re loving the new technology and we can’t wait to put it into a live environment!
