In a bylined piece, Miguel Tapia, Industry Principal for Mills and Mining at SAP,
talks about how cloud computing services are rapidly growing, mainly due the
benefits companies achieve after adopting such business solutions, including
self-service demand, mobile access, flexible scalability, and pay-per-use.
Tapia also points out that optimizing resources, reducing costs and increasing
business productivity are the three key benefits sought by the mining industry,
and that cloud solutions allow the adoption of applications in a short period
of time, and are very intuitive and easy to use. The many benefits associated
with cloud suggests that, in the future, companies and users will only be
concerned with whether a solution can meet their needs – it will not matter if
it is based on the cloud or on one’s own server structure.

    Hello Sir,

    It was very informative

In addition to the benefits given in this article i think there is a potential benefits of cloud computing apply to Mining industry especially in current economic environment.

    1) Mostly mining companies especially junior mining companies face lots of trouble financing their activities. When they implement cloud solution their initial costs can be reduced as compared to on premise solution which ease them up their financing requirements.

    2) generally mining companies have their mines spread across the world so the integration of the data becomes bit complicated. so in that case cloud computing can help them as they can access the data from anywhere.

    Regards,

    Pratik
