Exploring BI Roadmap: SAP Analytics Innovations Community Call Notes Part 2

Figure 1 shows planned innovations for BusinessObjects Explorer and Lumira, which will be available on multiple platforms, including the BI Platform.

Figure 2 shows improvements in the Analysis suite.

Figure 3 shows that we’ll see Lumira integrate with KXEN and other applications

Main area of the cloud is Lumira Cloud and Figure 4 shows planned improvements.

Figure 5 shows planned innovations for HANA, Hadoop or other 3rd party data sources.

Figure 6 shows planned innovations for Mobile BI.  It includes manipulating and authoring on a mobile device, and supporting Lumira Desktop.

Figure 7 shows the future direction, which is about 18+ months out from now. 

Question and Answer

Q: What about the roadmap for BW

A: One for SAP and one for agnostic.  See service.sap.com/roadmap

Q: BI4.1 is current version – is the next version 4.2 or 4.3?

A: Not allowed to discuss versions or timelines past a quarter

BI4.x – cannot specify if it will be BI4.2

There will be additional capabilities on 4.x codebase

Q: For the Desktop Compatibility Patch – should the customer migrate to 4.1 and then do conversion of Desktop Intelligence to Web Intelligence?

A: Yes

Q: What is the CVOM direction?

A: CVOM – latest version is HTML5 based – opening API’s so ecosystem can create their own CVOM model

It is part of latest Lumira release

Q: Request more Design Studio releases more often – release schedule and strategy – more data sources

A: Design Studio on a rapid schedule  – now 1.1 – this month will release Design Studio 1.2 – ability to connect to universes

Open an SDK for Design Studio to create new visualizations with CVOM
