Three packed but amazing days of SAP TechEd Amsterdam are over and now it is a good time to sit down and summarize the highlights and experiences from this event. Day 1 kicked-off with quite a techie keynote, you could see lots of code lines on the big screen showing some interesting use cases. Fortunately, we could still recognize as part of the keynote the SuccessFactors extensions story jointly developed by HANA Cloud platform and the Cloud Portal teams to enable customers to extend their SuccessFactors implementation with extension applications.

Starting the day - first step is to get some cool ribbons promoting of course our topics.

My first selection was the following

Our sessions were well attended, hosting many participants that were never experienced Cloud Portal. During the hands-on sessions the audience learned how to create an attractive cloud-based website using out-of-the-box content available in the product. Participants were using their own trial account and therefore are able to extend the scenario with some custom content and business apps once they are back home. Once the website was ready and published, they could immediately access it using their tablet and smartphone (see this blog for more details on running cloud portal sites in smartphone).

In all our sessions we followed the same strategy - less power points more demos! We managed to show lots of live demos presenting solutions available in the market (Cloud for Service: Support Site Edition and SuccessFactors Extensions Platform) as well as business scenarios and social collaboration such as SAP Jam running in Cloud Portal. The latest one was heavily promoted by the Jam team in all their sessions.

I had a very pleasant moment where a partner who last saw our product few months ago approached me to emphasize how they are impressed from the product progress and the openness of the product team to accept and implement feedback from customers/ partners in such a short timeline.

Many questions were raised around Fiori in the cloud, consumption of business apps from on-premise as well as from cloud solutions. All of those good questions are very much aligned with our strategy to be a single point of UI aggregation and integration for variety of applications and reports running both in the on-premise and in the cloud (SAP and non-SAP).

With lots of lectures and hands-on sessions for Cloud Portal, interesting meetings with known and new partners and customers plus 15 new followers in twitter I can conclude a great event. Hope to see you all next year!
