Announcement: SAP HANA Tailored Data Center Integration for Enterprise Storage is generally available
Half a year ago we announced SAP HANA tailored data center integration for enterprise storage as a pilot program at SAPPHIRE in Orlando. During the timeframe of six month we served more than 50 customers offering them an additional approach besides the appliance delivery of SAP HANA.
The pilot program was very successful and has shown that SAP HANA tailored data center integration offers you more openness and freedom of choice to configure the layer for SAP HANA depending on your existing data center layout to:
- Reduce hardware and operational costs by reusing existing hardware components and operation processes
- Mitigate risks and optimize time to value by enabling existing IT management processes for SAP HANA software implementations
- Have more flexibility in hardware vendor selection by leveraging the existing ecosystem
In short, this approach helps you to stay within your IT budget, shortens implementation cycles, and allows better consumption of hardware innovations to drive the adoption of SAP HANA.
That’s why we are happy to announce that the first three partners EMC Corp, NetApp and Hitachi Data Systems have completed the enterprise storage certifications already and SAP HANA tailored data center integration for enterprise storage is generally available.
Besides being aware of the benefits of SAP HANA tailored data center integration, also keep in mind that the approach requires several tasks and prerequisites.
Get familiar with the requirements for SAP HANA Tailored Data Center Integration:
Server – Only servers listed in the Product Availability Matrix for SAP HANA are supported. For more information, see SAP HANA Enterprise 1.0 SAP HANA Platform 1.0 Product Availability Matrix. Note the following information:
- No local disks and no flash cards are required.
- Additional Fibre Channel adapters for a boot from a storage-area network are allowed.
Storage – All storage devices must have successfully passed the hardware certification for SAP HANA. For more information, see the list of
partners offering SAP Certified Hardware for SAP HANA, check out the Partner Information Center or contact HWC@sap.com.
SAP HANA software installation –The exam “SAP Certified Technology Specialist (Edition 2013) – SAP HANA Installation” (E_HANAINS131) needs to be successfully passed for a person to perform SAP HANA software installations. For more information, see SAP Training and Certification Shop.
