The support is “conditionally” until we have a final list of the restrictions. So far IE11 has no restrictions.

SAP tests and intends to support IE11 Desktop (32-bit) for Windows 7.

There is a preliminary Release Note regarding IE11 support: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1903267

For compatibility changes in IE11 please see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/bg182625(v=vs.85).aspx

      Hi Andreas,

thank you very much for your work on TechEd, good job! It was also really nice to meet my former chief some years after I loose my d-number 🙂 I had damn busy, but very interesting times with your and Wolfgang's support in Walldorf, thank you again for your friendly help.

But back on topic, just my 2 cents on things we have discussed in short today:

1)I asked you for a browser recommendation regarding the performance with SAP-produced stuff. Your following assumption was right: I was confronted with performance issues on FF in Portal environment. I found EP performs faster on IE. You told me you didnt found any defferences, so I guess its a local problem. I will take a look on that issue on NW EP 7.4 (if I can find some time to install one 🙂 ) and will report to you.

2)On Portal (7.3x, AFP) we also have performance issues in IE, if people use the browser zoom, if I remember correctly regardless zooming in or out. The thing about this one is: I do understand its probably a technical restriction (although I never read an official SAP statement about that point, but I probably just didnt found such a note), because Im a technically affine guy with appropriate education. But the problem about that is, since EP is often used as a single point of entry by people with wide range of education, job background etc. its very difficult to explain to all of them "You cant zoom in IE". And of course user acceptance of EP is going down with this kind of statements. By the way, I didnt found this problem on my own custom developed frameworks. I was told by colleagues of my this problem is well-known by portal consultants, it would be for sure better if we can find a way to fix it. But if its portal-specific, it probably wrong in your department... If you have some time, let me know whether you or your staff in Bangalore have done any expiriences on your own.

      best regards

I totally forgot: I tested EP 7.31 on Win 7 and IE 11 and didnt found any problems. Appropriate customer have WDA, BSP and custom developed APC content, I hope it helps a little bit.

      Hi Andreas,

you are welcome. I have no news on browser performance or compatibility so far, Im still fighting with the installation of 7.4, jstart want start. But I will keep you on running...

Regarding the zoom issue there exists the following SAP Note: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1496565

Somehow I knew you would say something like that regarding the unappealing people from Redmond 😉 . Its a pitty we cant do anything on this... Thank you anyway,

      Hi Andreas,

Im coming back on my promise to inform you about my experiences on EP 7.4 and IE 11. Sadly I have no good news: even I found EP 7.4 to be a very stable release, even installation was a bit bumpy, I wasnt able to use IE 11 on this release properly.

This was not so much a specific EP rendering problem, but more generally problems on IE 11 and Parallels on Mac. I had many stability issues and rendering overlay problems on 11, I was forced to downgrade to IE 10 again.

So my conclusion on this was, to dont use IE 11 at all, I would wait for a stable version. By the way: they spended also new developer tools for IE 11, those are a horror in . Since I need them regulary in the portal, I will probably wait as long as possible before updating my IE again.

      regards
