Well..Tech Ed 2013, Las Vegas is over and what an event it was. Many changes from previous Tech Ed’s. The bean bags in the networking area were very helpful to relax with colleagues and customers with a hot cup of coffee. The demo during the keynote was something which was amazing. Sessions were very well organized and demonstrated the direction and future of SAP. Great networking sessions of 30 minutes duration were very helpful if one wanted to get a quick overview of concept and then move on to something different. The speakers were very knowledgeable and hands on sessions were great to work on along with InnoJam, DemoJam, “Expert Sessions”, Product Roadmap Q&A and on and on . The concert was a perfect way to end the event and “Imagine Dragons” were amazing to hear and see.

Seeing the number of people on wait list to get into hands on session was an indicator of the success of Tech Ed. As a Practice Lead in our Mobility Services, it was good to see so much attention and excitement around Mobility. Release of SMP 3.0 was one of the major highlights of this year’s Tech Ed. SMP 3.0 ushers in a one platform for all our mobile solutions. Agentry, Sybase products and Gateway all combined in one platform will provide customers a seamless and integrated way for their mobile roadmap. SMP with Afaria and Mocana Integration provides customer an end to end solution not just for developing mobile apps but also management of mobile apps and infrastructure.

The response from customers to SMP was overwhelming. The hands on sessions on SMP 3.0 were full beyond capacity with many participants not able to get in. One good thing of this year’s Tech Ed is the fact that the conference may be over but the learning and education does not need to stop. Tech Ed’s virtual on-line workshop is a good way for all participants to catch up on what they wanted to but could not get to during the conference. I got a chance to meet and talk to many customers and it seemed evident during the discussions how excited they were about SMP 3.0 and what it brings to the table. Customers are ready to dive in now with this new platform and forge ahead in Enterprise Mobility..!!

Friday morning, it was time to head back and in taxi on way to Airport as I looked at the rising sun over the hills surrounding Vegas the beautiful sunrise seemed an apt comparison to the rise and shine of our new technologies and solutions..!!

Yes, a new era in SAP has just been ushered and we were fortunate to see it begin..
