This episode of 'On the way to...' is brought to you by the Holy Family CYO Varsity Co-ed soccer team.  I decided to catch my daughter's 1pm game and then head to the airport for my flight to TechEd, allowing for only a brief 'pit stop' at the US Airways Club to use up an expiring pass.

<Bonus non-SAP related picture when she was the team captain earlier this month!>

This year's SAP TechEd comes just a few weeks post ASUG's SAP BusinessObjects User Conference in Anaheim.  Family conflicts kept me away from SBOUC, so TechEd is going to my primary BI conference this fall.  I am suspecting that TechEd will be bringing us a good dose of HANA, so we're going to have to take that into account.

A few housekeeping items before we list out some of the sessions that caught my eye:

- A full listing of BOBJ sessions that could be labeled 'Platform Agnostic' is already out on the internets!  I made an offhand comment to tammy.powlas3  that maybe folks would like a handy reference. Tammy thought it was a great idea, so we worked with SAP's Christina Miller and Christine Godek to put together a list and get it out to the community.  If you haven't seen it- check it out here:

- There's been a lot of chatter about having a co-located SBOUC with SAP TechEd next year.  I had the chance to sit down with the Diversified Semantic Layer gents and chat about it.  It was also thier first 'Google Hangout' video format, so I was honored to be thier test subject.  We didn't break Google, so it must have turned out well.  Check us out in our headset wearing glory here: https://dslayer.net/sbouc-and-sap-teched/

So, with that out of the way- let's get to some of the sessions I have on my agenda that seem really interesting:

Overview of Analytics Solutions from SAP: 10/22/2013 10:15 AM 11:15 AM  (Delfino 4005)

SAP's Somya Kapoor (and seemingly one of Michael Reh's most trusted lieutenants) is presenting what looks to be a holistic view of the entire BI Suite.  While TechED can be geeky, it was nice to see something on the schedule for those who were looking for something a bit more high level.  I seems to be a pretty good session for non BI folks to start wrapping their heads around the BI Suite

What's New in SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence 4.1 – Why the Timing is Right to Upgrade: 10/22/2013 10:15 AM 11:15 AM  (Delfino 4003)

I can admit to have never meeting Matthias Badaire, but Web Intelligence is one of main BI tools, so I'm curious to hear how he's going to position some of the announced improvements for WebI in BI4.1.

DSLayered Podcast Recording and Q&A 10/22/2013 12:00 PM 12:30 PM (Expert Lounge 1)

Even though I was just on a recent DSLayered episode, I'm recommending this one because you can never really tell where the conversation is going to go.  With the 'Thunder(s) from Down Under' (Josh Fletcher and Clint Vosloo) in person to answer questions alongside james.oswald , greg.myers  and eric.vallo2, what could possibly go wrong when I'm there asking the TOUGH questions!  You know, like 'Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck?'

Customizing SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence for Your Business 10/22/2013 2:00 PM 4:00 PM (Marcello 4502)

If you are a BI Platform Server Nerd (or an aspiring one) or just want to learn how to customize your BI LaunchPad to something more company specific; then join SAP's Christina Obry and Greg Wcislo as they walk you through a two hour hands-on session to do just that.  Bonus appearance by myself as I try and keep with the awesomeness that is Christina Obry and the pretty good-ness of Mr. Greg Wcislo!

SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence 4 Sizing – What You Need to Know 10/23/2013 10:30 AM 11:30 AM

If you haven't figured it out, sizing your BI4 enviornment is pretty dang important.  Ian Treleaven from SAP has a session that looks pretty promising.  If you can't get to this session, he also has an Expert Networking Lounge scheduled for 10/23/2013 12:30 PM

1:00 PM in Lounge 16 to keep asking those questions!

Customizing SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence for Your Business

10/22/2013 2:00 PM 4:00 PM (Marcello 4502)

You seriously missed our hands-on session?  Or you liked it so much you want to go again?  Then come on down to the replay!

SAP BusinessObjects 'Platform Agnostic' TechEd Debrief and Networking 10/24/2013 4:30 PM 5:00 PM (Expert Lounge 1)

Are you running BOBJ against DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, Essbase or ANY system that isn't SAP ERP?  Then come and debrief on what YOU got out of this year's SAP TechEd at this Lounge session!  I am sure that the co-location topic will come up, too.  So let's end the conference with some great discussion and networking.

Well, that's it for this episode.  I am looking forward to an exciting conference and hope to be able to meet as many folks as possible!  Feel free to stop me (or any other SAP Mentor) to fire off a question or just say hi.  The 'jersey' isn't a club, but an easy way for the community to find us and chat.  Use it- that's what we're here for.  See you at the Palazzo!
