It took a few years but finally I am attending TechEd in Vegas again (yeah, 1 extra day over Amsterdam). Sort of lost count but it must be over 10 of them now at least both in USA and in EMEA. And I will confess I’m a TechEd Technical Junkie! Why? Where else can you possibly get the chance to cram in all that e-learning you never got around to the past year by booking sessions from early am to closing around 6 pm? Seriously, I absorb 10 times more information listening to an expert and being able to ask question in 1-2 hours session then taking it all in over the internet. Call me old-fashioned but touchie-feelie networking beats my computer screen hands-down. My role as D&T Sales Solution Architect means having to know a (hec)k of a lot about everything. And now that SAP has gone and become Technology Innovators keeping up has never been harder – or more exciting. Don’t know about you but I get such an incredible knowledge rush at TechEd of all the solution possibilities I’ll be able to help put together for our customers. Totally addictive. Keeps me going through next summer.
A generalists Agenda?
OK, Confession Nr. 2. I personally love 101 overview sessions! Especially the strategic Roadmaps like Tec101 How to Best Embed SAP Technology. Why? Because they set the stage for where the trends are going. No better place to view the bigger picture then when someone shows how the databases, data management, UI layers, Cloud, Mobility all merge into a unified solution. Figure too, since both Cloud and Big Data are my currrent personal ‘hot’ topics, I’ll listen to where Cloud is going in Tec105 Update in SAP’s Cloud Strategy as well as Ginger Gatling (great speaker) TEC108 Integrate Cloud Solutions. Being pretty much a novice in Big Data RDP112 Big Data & the RDTP with HANA and Hadoop should be a good start.
OK now that the basics are picked it’s time to get into more details. Such as POP200 Solution Architecure for Process, Data and User Centric Integration coupled with POP202 B2B Integraiton with SAP NW PO and SAP HANA Cloud Integration. For Big Data maybe get my hands dirty with RD241 Integrating the RDTP with Hadoop. Been awhile since I got to play on the system.
Not sure yet. Haven’t got my Agenda totally built yet. That’s what 17 hour air travel time from Europe is good for. Am quite sure, as a complement to Big Data, I’ll spend a bit of time even with understanding how to grap the daa with SAP Data Services and then manage it correctly with Infomation Governance. You know what they say ‘ Lousy data makes lousy decision and with SAP HANA you can make them faster’.
Keep an eye out – I’ll be blogging on what I attend and hear all week.
