20131014 – From Oracle To SAP
I worked for HP and Accenture both for 2 years as an Oracle Siebel Technical Architect. It is a challenging technology as Siebel is a CRM oracle module that covers wide range of solutions from sales opportunities, product handling and after sales relationship with clients, suppliers and vendors. It was very tough understanding how ERP system works as my focus is on Oracle-CRM module but I was given a chance to work with integrating other systems via EAI feature of Siebel to other Oracle and client legacy systems.
A friend who was also from HP and Accenture who moved to UST Global informed me that the organization is indeed great as employees are well empowered to be very independent and provide their own style of delivering excellence to the company. A lot more than that, the company values the skills of their employee by providing them the right benefits and opportunities to grow.
I was hired at UST Global on March 2012 as a Siebel Technical Architect to a healthcare industry account. I really owe a lot from UST Global as they valued my skills and trusted that I can contribute much on the organization. By that time, I was the only person from UST Global Philippines doing Siebel CRM and working with other teammates from US and India is a new experience for me as I am used to have colleagues beside my workstation. The experience was memorable as I had several calls, touchpoint meetings and reports submitted to my counterparts. I got rolled off from the end of the transition of the project.
I waited for few months for my next project and I didn’t expect that I will be assigned to a competitor technology of Oracle which is SAP. No big deal on it but of course, there will be different syntax, UI and concepts that I need to learn to surpass from what the company is expecting me to do and much from what I expect for myself to deliver.
SAP Travel OnDemand (August 2012) is like salesforce that is hosted and managed in cloud. I am always skeptic in this new venture as I have rendered more than 4 years in Siebel as a technical architect and I am closely working with enterprises, servers and their infrastructure. SAP Travel OnDemand has no infra! It only means that most of what I’ve invested shall go to nothing.
But my trust in SAP is same up there with Oracle and I need to learn new technologies so I welcomed SAP whole heartedly. Knowing that Cloud Computing is and will be the biggest trend, I knew I am on the right track. Application layer configurations, client workshops and calls consume much of my day as an SAP Service Adviser. These activities are honing the skills which I am longing to be developed. I know have the passion to handle these tasks that despite of the busy schedule, I always like to share things that I experienced and learned in this adventure to a different but familiar domain of SAP.
ILOGondemand is an avenue for me to share my learnings and experiences in this new life being an SAP Service Adviser.
Please do not hesitate to send me a message via e-mail if you have technical questions. I will find time to answer and or contribute on your research. =)
