Running an Infopackage manually with Background User

Running an Infopackage manually with Background User

  • What: Running a manual load(infopackage) in BW is not possible with our IDs.
  • Workaround: There are cases when we need to run the Info package manually but as our IDs do not have authorization we need to schedule them with background user – eg . BTC_GBL_BW (Can be different in other systems).
  • How: Please follow below snapshots to run an Infopackage with Background User ID.

Now Click on ‘Start’ which schedules a Job with your ID for the given date in ‘Released’ Status.

To view the job go to tCODE SM37 and search for Jobs with User Name: <your own User ID> and Date range as the one used above to schedule the job. You should be able to find the Job that you just scheduled.

After Saving it will bring you back to ‘Step List Overview’ with the User now being ‘BTC_GBL_BW’. Now we again go back to get the below screen. We changed the User, now we change the start timing.

Now Go back and save and your job should start running.

This is the way we run an Infopackage manually using a background user.

The method can be similarly used to schedule other process with the background user. eg process chain execution etc.
