How to identify technical names of Material Classification Master Data

This blog is helpful whenever we want to extract Material Classification Data from SAP R/3 to BW system. Most of the times we won’t be having idea about the technical names of classification fields of material and this document explains step by step procedure to identify the technical names of Classification fields of Material.

Follow the below path in SAP R/3 system in order to view the material classification details in R/3 System

T-code: MM03 -> Classification Tab->Enter the class. In the below screen shot Material is assigned to Class and each Class contains characteristics which hold characteristics values(Characteristics are Classified objects). Classified Objects gives more details about the material e.g: Material Colour, Material Group etc.

    

       

If we press F1 on the above characteristics values it woont pop up with technical details of the characteristics, hence it becomes tedious to identify the tech names of Characteristics in R/3

In order to identify the technical names of above characteristics, go to t-code: CL02 in R/3 system.

Below screen shot depicts the screen shot of technical names of Classfied Characteristics.

     

Here under "Char" we can get the technical names of Material Classsification details which we can further use whenever there is a need arises in BW system to extract Classification details of material from R/3 system
