Field mapping from SAP ECC to SAP BW

This document will explain the step by step procedure for identifying the fields technical names in SAP R/3 and to confirm whether the R/3 field name is available as info object in SAP BW.

1) This document is prepared based on the material number entered in MM03 t-code and there we can find various fields available but we would get only field  description. Screen shot attached

2) In order to find the technical name of Ext.Mat Group in above screen shot we need to go to “F1” display of that field. Place the mouse cursor on the field and click on F1. After that new pop up would open in that click on Technical information. Screen shot attached.

3)After clicking on the technical information button as depicted in above screen shot, a popup opens up which would display the technical name of field and its corresponding table name.

4) After we have found the technical name of R/3 field, go to BW system and enter table name: RSOSFIELDMAP in t-code Se16

5) Enter the corresponding R/3 Field name in the FIELDNM field of table it would display the BW info object name which is mapped to R/3 field

      Hi Antony,

Thanks for sharing. But points 1,2 and 3 may not be suggestable for bw point view. We start data source creations based on tables. so thru tables we know the ECC Fields . for standard data source, directly you knows the ecc fields.

      Thanks

The points 1,2,3 are taken in to consideration in order to understand how technical names of fields can be seen at their header level
