Hello Everyone,

this week, SAP has released the new SAP NetWeaver BW Near-Line Storage rapid-deployment solution, which includes SAP Sybase IQ. This rapid-deployment solution has an implementation duration of 12 weeks only!

The SAP NetWeaver BW Near-Line Storage rapid-deployment solution provides a complete data aging solution that enables transparent access to the archived data for reporting, and query capabilities. The near-line storage will secure write-protected data, partitioned by age and/or time, therefore resulting in a leaner, low-cost, more easily maintainable online SAP NetWeaver BW application. It can be coupled with SAP HANA implementations to control SAP HANA infrastructure costs. A well-defined data aging strategy ensures a regular archiving of historical data, which is still available for online reporting as needed.

The solution can be implemented within 12 weeks. The quick and riskless implementation is supported by the following main components of this rapid-deployment solution:

  • Implementation of a data aging strategy – A document that guides through the process of setting up a data aging strategy, with an example of a data aging strategy for sample info cubes in SAP NetWeaver BW
  • SAP Sybase IQ general configuration – A configuration guide and templates for a fast and easier installation and configuration of SAP Sybase IQ software
  • Near-line storage configuration – A step-by-step guide that supports through the process of configuring the SAP NetWeaver BW application  for near-line storage with SAP Sybase IQ.

Go live in weeks: 12 weeks

    12 week? Too long.

    Not more than 5. (2 methodology + 2  realization + 1 implementation).

We test this in our dev systems (bw-on-hana + iq as nls).

    And price… Too much now.

Price must be adequate else nobody wants this.

No more than 100K EUR per BW installation – if you want to popularize iq nls.

      Hi Mikhail,

I agree implementation in Dev environment could be done in 5 weeks or lesser. RDS covers end-to-end implementation of Near-line storage solution with SAP Sybase IQ for a 3 tier BW landscape that includes UAT, Training, go-live preparation and go-live support. The overall 12 weeks implementation is based on our experience with various customers. Implementation time depend on various factors and that varies customer to customer, e.g In production environment, available time window to transfer data from primary database to NLS. With 12 weeks’ time frame, we should be able to cover most of our installed base as these aspects are discussed during planning phase of the project and number of cubes/DSOs in scope is determined.

For pricing, I would encourage to reach out to your regional contact and work through them.

If you have any specific question, please write me at rakesh.roushan@sap.com

      Appreciate your feedback.

      Regards,

      Rakesh

    Hi.

Does licenses for SAP Near-line storage for SAP BW (NLS for BW) include Multiplex option?  Can we build multiplexed (multi nodes) NLS for BW solution in IQ?

The current NLS on IQ offering includes 32 cores of SAP IQ, the unstructured data option, and the very large database option.  As this is a restricted use license, it does not include other options, nor can other options be purchased and used.  The bundle has been scoped and priced to handle the BW and NLS workloads of most customers.  If further options are needed contact your account executive and they will work with you to get the proper SAP IQ Enterprise licenses in place.
