Taking a Look at Lumira SP12
Andrew Fox wrote this blog yesterday SAP Lumira SP12 – Quick peek at some new features so I will try to add more new features that I see.
First there is a new welcome page:
You do not see as much on the Welcome page, giving it a less cluttered look.
Next is the new storyboard feature, allowing you to “tell a story”:
What is also new about the storyboard is the input controls (see red arrow) allowing your end users to select the companies they want to see.
Additionally, Lumira now supports the BI4.1 Universes; SP11 did not. In the upper left figure above you see I am using an OData BI4.1 universe.
You can also add a background color and image – below I am only adding a background color:
Also if you hover over a bar it will display the measure and dimension (new HTML5):
You can download the SP12 version at sap.com/trylumira
More to come!

Thanks, Tammy. Exciting indeed.
My understanding is SP12 can connect to BW through an OLAP universe. That would mean using UNV, right ?
Installed and had a 5 min play.....I tried to connect to a universe data source, but the connection setup is not obvious right away. Certainly different from logging into the Launch pad.
Would you be able to do a step-by-step on how to setup a universe data source for Lumira ? What do we have to do inside the host file ?
I am more familiar with the http://server:port/BOE/BI format....Is that what we need to put into the host file ?
Thanks again...
Peter
Hi Peter,
Lumira can connect to SAP NW BW using UNX universe, not UNV universe. Please refer to SAP Lumira 1.12 latest release notes that contains more information on this access and restrictions associated with it. The corresponding SAP Note number is 1911965.
Best
Antoine
To connect to a BOE/universe, just specify the server name. No http, no port, no BOE/BI.
